I am in grumpy old bas*ard mode today with everyone. Really f*cks me off people join up here just to post a bike for sale, should be a minimum number of posts etc before that's possible Rant over
Yep, agree. I wonder how many of the 'newbie' posts actually sell the bike? I think regulars on the forum would have no hesitation about buying from a known member, but I, for one, would be dubious of a bike for sale on a first-up post. Certainly, it is no different from seeing the same bike on ebay, etc, but forums are usually considered a medium for camaraderie and assistance, not a springboard for sales.
I personally wouldn't buy a set of brake pads off anyone on here unless they were known. Too much registering to flog stuff and then disappearing once done. This ain't fleabay
Ducati forum you need to be a paid up member to sell anything I think. @Rob could you set that up here?
Advice on this is in Rules of the Forum..which I think folks are advised to read when they join?!? can't remember now. At the moment it's just a courtesy advisory 20 posts before selling something. There was a discussion with Rob about these issues back in 2012. I believe they said if you see someone obviously joining to just sell something and have no other imput, that if you report it then they item may be removed by the mods. Anyhow's link to thread attached... https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/for-sale-section-some-simple-rules-please-read-before-posting.2941/
There's also the thing of people trying to sell stuff that I would chuck in a skip. One man's trash is another man's treasure etc. I guess but I do look at some of the crap and think.......yeah.....nah.
To be fair, it might have been on a bike like mine that rarely sees the road. I mean, you wouldn't even know that the rim was stuffed!!
Good job I am.....considering the last minor sh#t tsunami set off by @nigelrb ....caught by @Spygoat & slam dunked by derchef
On the TZ watch forum, you have to have at least 50 posts to even see the 'sales corner'. Obviously people can just post 50 loads of crap, but it would stop that purely joining to sell stuff.
