Hmmmm unfortunately not.......I've had to put the funds into a new car. VW Tiguan Allspace R line. (7 seater) And why do I need a 7 seater I here you say?? Well in the not too distant future there is a mini PauloHRC on the horizon!!! Or a PaulaHRC......we're not sure yet haha P.s. I had had permission to get a second bike even with the new arrival imminent....but the price of new cars it's quite ridiculous so I need to be a sensible person about this!
My brother's had 2 Tiguans in the past few years. Full of compliments for them. Congrats on the 'other' addition too!
I've had both the 4xv and the 5jj and they were both cracking bikes! .....as everyone says.... "wish I'd kept it"
I owned a low mileage 2001 5JJ about 12 years ago in Red/White and loved it then I bought this 98 4XV a year last January for £1000. Been laid up 4 years and started regularly. Guy had 4 bikes and didn't use it. Admittedly there arent many out there for £1000 but this had 41k on it with 3 owners (I think) and was fine. Spent a further £1150 on it (thereabouts) and went through it all, original can, indicators, powder coating the wheels, new suspension link bearings, 12k shock, new genuine fork seals and oil, 2015/16 CBR1000RR stick coils and loom, mopped the paint, bought a Chinese seat cowl for £21 and spent £65 painting it with quality colour matched 2 stage rattles cans then 2 pack lacquer which was then mopped and it was perfect. Used it for around 8 months and sold the bike for £2500 after putting another 1500 miles on it. The guy is still using it and loves it.
Looks magnificent. I'd find it hard to part with a bike that I'd invested so much time in. But then again, I find it hard to part with bikes, period!
Also bought this for £200 found in a field as pictured below, and turned it into this and sold it for £1300. Never made any beans (probably just about £150?) but enjoyed the project and saved another from the scrappers and got to use the finished bike. Not too bad either for a big girl. The big girls sometimes surprise you when you climb onboard!
No worries .......It's just making me want to get a project bike even more now!! As mentioned in earlier post though, I've had to put the idea on the back burner while the new car arrives, extension is built and baby is delivered....all In that order!
Haha. I also did an SV650, the first of the pointy ones. Paid £750, spent £300 and sold it for £1350. It felt like a right nail when I got it! Engine cases peeling, rusty subframe bearings feeling tired etc. Turned out nice too and was a right laugh to ride. 46000 miles and turned out quite nice. Easy sellers them too for A2 riders. I like having a project on the go. Need to look for one myself again I think. Haha, no more I promise.
I don't even know who's thread it is any longer. Bloody hell, that CBR find is one of those stories you hear and then say to the guy, 'Yeah sure?' Of course I can see that that is a legitimate find and have to ask: 'How the frig?' Did you just happen to wander through farmer Joe's paddock collecting friggin' daises and then, 'Holy shit, I just found a bike'? I'm out to Argos to buy wellies first up in the morning. The finished job is amazing. Fortunate (for me) I wasn't on the forum at that time!!
The CBR was one of my work mates when I was at the last offshore position. He lived in Plymouth but had an old house in Pembroke and that is where my van is sited, so I went down for a mooch and agreed to buy it. It had been sat in the field without a cover for 2 years. Within an hour of getting it home it was running, on the same battery and fuel in the tank. Pretty fortunate really. Been asked to restore a Laverda for a guy and we’d split the profits since but the logistics of getting it from the IOM to South Wales and the rarity of the parts I declined. I do it as I enjoy it in my off time. I think if I had someone relying on me it’d not be so much fun.
