Hello all, New member here, came across your site and it looked full of useful stuff. Current bikes are a Ducati 748S (2001) and a Yamaha RD400 (1977), recently sold a ZX6R and now looking to buy my first Fireblade! Any advice welcome, was thinking around the 2009, 2010 or 2011 age Cheers Lee
Hi & welcome Lee If you can push up to a 12 onwards they did some decent upgrades on that model & Avoid ABS models lol
Thanks, a non-ABS bike is what I was thinking - seen a couple of MY2012 bikes but both a bit rough round the edges. I know where to come for a tail tidy now
Welcome, as others have recommend you should certainly go non ABS and 09 onwards. Good luck with your search.
Hi and welcome. I thoroughly enjoy my non-ABS 2011. Always been reliable and, I believe, a bit before the heavier emission controls plagued the bikes - although there are remedies for that!
Welcome Lee! Plenty of good 09 onwards examples around, I can vouch for that! See what @Lozzy did there......steered you towards an 2012 onwards (because she has one) and then backtracked and suggested an earlier model so she can sell you her tail tidy!!! Proper shrude move that
Thanks for the replies and welcomes Yes RR7 also in the runnng too. Is there any major issues with either an 08/09 model and 10/11 model (I know minor mods including crank size) - seems to be a sizeable price variation between them? Delears asking £7 for a 2011 and £5400 for a 2009 (similar miles and condion) Don't worry @Lozzy your tail tidy will fit both
You'd want to be getting a good one with very low miles for seven grand!! Some dealers really seem to be taking the P with their price structure. Beware also that any model close to 16,000 miles will be due for a major service which will take at least 400 quid from your wallet. I'd be inclined to scan the private market (and I do) because there's always a gem that turns up when you least expect it.
Yep got it NO ABS Yes dealer prices are interesting, especially considering the time of year. One wants over £7k for a 2011 with 13,000 that he has had for sale since August! I will admit it looks immaculate, however the gold paint on them wheels ain't real gold! I will stick something in the wanted section, once you have all opened your presents - someone might be looking to make room in the garage for a new toy
Hi Lee, good luck with your search. As others have said it's well worth avoiding the ABS models, other than that the 'blade is a fekkin blast
