Hi guys! I need your advice. Bought a motorcycle with a Ohlins fork from Aprilia RSV 1000R Factory. The previous owner apparently was very sloppy with fork and I got this-many scratches and dents. Looks scary In reality, it looks much worse. At first I thought to replace only the Sleeve plug cpl and have a nice and clean look. But for a couple of these parts, it seemed terribly expensive, around 550$. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GENUIN...h=item3611b5d5bb:g:WgkAAOSwImRYkeQG:rk:1:pf:0 What better way to do in this case? Or is it better add a little $ and pay attention to the second owner Ohlins NIX30 Cartridge Kit? Or another brand option? (K-Tech, Bitubo) Budget is limited, unfortunately.
First, I would go to a suspension tech and have them gone through. If it's just surface scratches and wrench dents, you'll be fine. If the damage is all cosmetic, I would live with it. If it is more than that, see what the suspension tech says. It's hard to diagnose from pictures. Best of luck!
In the summer, my mechanic serviced the fork - inside everything works and looks great. Damage only cosmetic - but I can not live with them, annoys me
Then I would say go with new forks. I am an Ohlins fan so I'd say find the option you can afford and go with it!
Totally new plug? Cosmetic damage is only what is seen in the photo. Everything is perfect inside the plug. Or I didn't understand you
Something everyone is silent ... Or is it better to sell the fork - to add and buy Ohlins FGRT 204 (NIX 30mm inside)?
Me personally I d look at having then cosmetically refreshed. Basically I’d be looking to get them done so they would look new. But it all depends what that’s worth to you personally. It wouldn’t be cheap but on a bike you love and if it bothers you the result would be more than worth it. Iv spent a fair bit on my bike and plan to spend much more and I regret none of it. I didn’t do to put me financially ahead.
.... I'm in the same boat, I couldn't agree more with Leroy on this one. Price tag is one thing, but peace of mind is another. Maybe wait, save a bit more and do it proper.
Hi, I have cbr 1000 rr 2014 sp with standard forks (due to crash). I have possibility to install ohlins from 2008 aprilia for small amount of money. Will aprilia calipers catch brake discs completly or it is better to stick with oem forks?
Hello! Calipers must catch rotors completely. Brake rotors in Aprilia and your Honda of the same diameter?
Yes. I have the same. Feel much better on the road and the golden Ohlins fork looks great. I recommend to install.
