I have taken delivery today and was wondering what i should be buying for it, i was thinking radiator guard is a must, braided lines for the brakes, anything else that you would recommend. any musts before i get going. Pete
Looks pretty good as it is, but heated grips are fantastic if you are going to use the bike all year round (unless of course it's snowing)
i was looking at the HM quick shift and crash protection maybe but convincing the wife i need to spend £500 could be tricky
Given its prime use is as a track bike, I'd go with the rad guard and braided lines, forget about gold wheels, and keep some money aside for proper suspension tuning - unless you can do that yourself. Your big problem (as I foresee) is the Yoshi failing most tracks decibel tests. Might have to investigate a repack or original end can as @PauloHRC (and others) have done.
Nigel you could be right that the bike is too clean for a track bike, booked in for brandshatch in march, may take the ZX9R instead as if i bin it i have lost very little. I have ordered the braided lines and rad guard, tank grip and a couple of other small bits to keep me busy Pete
If you’re not tracking it then a front fender extender and full size rear hugger would be good. Also, to stop people saying “you’ve got a headlight out mate”, get the dual headlight converter from Jens - its an easy self fit as explained here https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/dual-headligths.13685/page-5#post-474351
. . . or, forget all about Jens, and tell the imbeciles that one headlight only is your contribution to reducing the 'carbon footprint'. That'll gain all motorcyclists kudos!!
RRG rad guard, £30 well spent, have fitted them to all my bikes, cheap, easy to fit, and a nice chap to deal with. not sure of your year but he does them for most https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fireblad...h=item4687803d34:g:gDEAAOSwCQNWdu8z:rk:6:pf:0
I have just fitted my rad guard, ended up removing the right hand fairing to get it in, those clips are a nightmare on the plastics. I had a disaster years ago when the spacer fell from the crash bung and i cracked the block, made sure the spacer was in this time. Pete
And the worst thing is that there's 3 or 4 different varieties. By the time you've figured them out you could have had the bike apart and back together with ordinary threaded screws!
