Approached my Honda dealer today for a price for new tyres: Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIs and was quoted 308 quid PLUS 85 for fitting. I almost dropped to the ground. I am generally loyal to dealers, but this takes the mickey. On looking at some comparison sites, it seems they retail for around 260 the pair! Will try a local independent bike shop on Monday, OR, just take off my wheels and take them to a tyre centre for fit and balance.
I can understand supporting the local Indy but you must need your head testing going to a main dealer for them let alone fitting Have a look at openeo or tyreleader then just take your wheels off should only be 20 quid fitting
Got pair of Michelin Power RS's fitted to loose wheels at my Honda dealer for £250, love the RS's loads better than the Pirelli's and excellent in the wet too.
Just checked, Pirelli Diablo Rosso II Corsa approx £245 a pair on Tyre Leader delivered, e.g. https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/motorbike-tyres/pirelli/diablo-rosso-corsa-ii/120-70-zr17-58w-833029 £104.64 https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/motorbike-tyres/pirelli/diablo-rosso-corsa-ii/190-50-zr17-73w-821886 £140.79 I get a local tyre fitter to fit tyres to loose wheels at £10 per tyre. Cheers, Ian.
Good choice of tyre N are they for the sp.....I was thinking of these when the super corsa wear out as more road based but still track focused...
Last ones I got bridgestone bt16 pro £ 180 fitted on loose wheels , I know there old tech but they have never let me down , local workshop /mot station
WTF? You gotta be having a laugh! SP won't be due for tyres until August 2020. Seriously though, I'll probably get this coming summer out of the SP's Super Corsas and replace with the same. I love them and the fact we can do just about anything with them. I agree with you that we'd get more mileage out of the 2s, but it's a big trade off riding wise - or so I believe. The Rosso 2 tyre change I referred to is for my 2011. Thanks for that, Ian. That's the route I'll go. If I can exchange fairings a remove and replace of two wheels will be a piece of piss!!
Or maybe give http://www.roundandblack.co.uk/moto...iablo-rosso-2-ii-motorcycle-tyres-latatk.html £210 !
Thanks again Iain. Just sent them an email to check the date stamp. Sometimes, old clearance stock is offered at these sort of prices. Edited to say: We're talking nearly 100 quid cheaper than dealer's quote! I am so glad I wasn't my usual impulsive self and just order from dealer. It just didn't seem right though, because I'd read recent reviews placing them at around 240 - 260.
Come to think of it I'll stick with the super corsa especially if we have a summer like this year they stick like flys to smelly stuff and really suit the bike.
At your mileage you should get 2 seasons you reckon? You'll obviously do more miles next summer cos you'll get rides in throughout Spring also.
This is on openeo, wasn’t sure if you use 50 or 55 profile(the 50 will be cheaper) the Rossi 3 is only £130. Have used this company for years and use 2sets a year with them and never had a problem
Cheers @raphael . I stay with the std 50 profile. 2 sets a year though? What sort of mileage are you doing or do they get a very hard life?
i only ever use pilot road 4's but just gone over to the 5's, i ride all year and do roughly 12k a year but also give them a bitt of stick now and again.
Agree with what others have said about getting tyres fitted at a dealer, although they may be willing to price match of you try your luck? At least you can ride in and ride out then. I'd always use a local tyre shop rather than a dealer though. Chances are the dealer sources them out from somewhere else anyway!
I buy online and my local tyre fitter fits them for £25 both loose, works out cheaper, although I generally fit SC1/2 scrubs in summer for track use and put my M7rr back on after TD season finished
I am busting to try M7RRs, but I can't on my 2011 because of the damn 'Pirelli' promo on my Castrol fairings. It's the OCD factor.
