So why a Corsa 2 rear and a Rosso 2 front - you will get over 6k miles from the front, and less than 3 from the rear? Well you would the way and miles I ride!
Might seem strange but this was a conscious decision based on rider experience and tyre research. The Corsa 2 front is essentially the same tyre as the Rosso 2, save for extra drainage and a slightly softer compound. I tend to run the front very hard into corners and 'triangulate' the tyre (see pic). My thought process was if I put the harder on the front I should get more even wear between front and rear. The real test will show in summer on my SP with Super Corsas front and rear. Ironically, if I suffer the same wear on that bike, I'll stick with the Super Corsas because of their confidence-inspiring feedback to the rider.
so there not the same tyre you'll get better grip with a sports tourer, supercorsa take a lot of warming up, track tyre really
I run Pirelli SBK SC2/SC1 on my blade 08 at the beginning of March and drive them to the end of October. Exceptional tire! Tons of grip and fun!
Agree SC are awesome, I put them on my bike at the start of track season and use them on road too, they take a little longer to warm up in cold temp and crap in wet, that's why I put the M7rr back on after the track season as they have good grip wet, cold and dry.
Here I go about Metzeler again Been having a little read up on the racetec rr and looking at what they have changed over the previous gen k3 interacts I have on at the min. "The dual-compound cap and base scheme of RACETECâ„¢ RR rears feature a highly conductive center strip, which supports the shoulder compound from underneath and warms it up during long straights by redistributing the heat generated to the shoulders, maintaining them in the operative temperature and ensuring grip when going into lean." Sounds reassuring
Got my new tyres fitted today. Was a slow start though; I didn't have a damn 22 mm socket for the front axle. 15 mile round trip to B & Q sorted that. Gotta learn to ride again though. Such a different feeling to my 'triangulars'. Managed to capture the last hour of daylight this evening. Tomorrow should be good in W. Midlands too!!
Watch out there isn't any salt lurking... I thought our roads were clear & it was just muck on mine after the weekend but when I licked a bit after running my finger over the fairing it was well salty
These colder temperatures, and the really smooth tarmac that we have round here, has caused a couple of little slides under power - nothing major, and not big power either, but loss of traction all the same. I think it is just the colder weather and very smooth tarmac that caused it - just got to be a bit more careful. It will be interesting to hear how you get on with your new tyres Mr Nigel - what did you get again ?
I got Pirellis. A couple think it's a contentious combination: Front: Diablo Rosso Corsa (120 x 70) Rear: Diable Rosso Corsa 2 (190 x 50)
