Decided to fit the tail tidy today.
    Long story short.
Flat battery, not just a little flat, but flat flat. No lights on dash, not even dim.
Looks like I should have bought that battery conditioner after all.
Ironically my neighbour asked me to start his Jag over Christmas in his absence, looks like I should've started my bike at the same time.
So I calls local Honda dealer, they had a report of another new blade having a flat battery.
    I blame the tracker.
I bet I hadn't started it for about 2 months or even taken the cover off.
I need that lithium charger now. Amazing how small and light the lithium batteries are.

Sorry to hear that, Kevin, but also a little disappointed because how often are we talking about battery tenders and the drain of even the HISS system on batteries? Many have posted about advice for chargers and difference between lithium and lead/acid. That should have jolted your memory. I hope yours is recoverable, but I think I've read that lithiums are not recoverable once flat. I hope you can prove me wrong.

I have the Optimate Lithium: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/248878

@PauloHRC just bought one last week also. He might weigh in on this.

Dealer asked me if I really need one?o_O which made me question myself......do you need one on a brand new bike? Fuck
    Yeah!!

It'sa no brainer really, I mean what reason is there not too put your bike battery on charge?! Just for that peace of mind ;)

    100% with you on that!

We have spoken before of condensation gathering in collector boxes, but there's far worse affecting these high performance engines that are run for only 5 minutes once a fortnight.

Sometimes it's difficult to resist the temptation to do just that though.......especially if taking it out is not an option. :(

I pushed mine over a mile uphill at the start of last year due to the battery. Had it booked for MOT, started no bother and went for fuel, got back on it and nothing.

Bought a lithium one and I've not looked back.

after fitting a new battery on my VTR i used one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-SOLA...509325&hash=item4d877c3049:g:NJYAAOSwzcNcKN3e
for 6 years and never had a problem with the battery.
I had it plugged in the blade but the battery was already knackered.
so I have taken it of and brought a new battery which is on a opimate at the moment
but my question is, if I have no battery on the blade will I have to set the clock and rev limited lights up again?
and once the new battery is on I will use the solar charger again

Yep that’s what has happened with me on two occasions. Once at the shell petrol station, but the worse one was at the local bike meet at Willingham Woods near Market Rasen in Lincs. Worse still it was packed. I was embarrassed to say the least.

The Repsol and the Harley are both on tenders. Though I try to ride at least once a week, the cold, lack of use and alarm systems on both bikes will drain the battery in about 2 weeks. I've been eyeing Li batteries for both bikes. From all reports, they hold a charge better than conventional batteries.

This read 5 volts yesterday. Today it was reading 6.74 volts before going on the charger.

I hope it fully recovers! Given that it had nearly 7 volts in it you should be fine.;)

Mine started misbehaving just before i put it away for winter. It’s on the charger but I’m expecting to have to replace come the good weather. Just saying up which way to go lead acid or lithium. If i go lithium its a new charger required on top

You might be able to find a deal for both batter and charger at a reasonable discount. Pre-Easter might be a good time.;)
