I have got R & G rear bobbins my question is should they turn as you jack the bike up, the reason I ask is it looks like the stand is digging in, I have taken them off separated the inner and greased it but are the suppose to spin?
Er don't know, I have recently fitted some but not used my rear stand on them yet as the bike is on my home made abba stand at the moment, I know Oxford do some that do spin , think @nigelrb fitted some of them to one of his many bikes
I have never had a set of bobbins that spin on any bike in the last 18 years. And thats 9 bikes /9 sets of bobbins by the way. Could the bolts supplied be too long??
Bazz, there are a type called 'Spinners' which will freely rotate. You should turn freely when screwed into the locating holes on the s/arm. Otherwise, as Paulo suggested, bolts might be too long, OR, they were the wrong pitch and you've cross-threaded.
no Paulo that's what I'm asking mine don't spin so the stand is marking them. just wondered if they spin would they then not get marked?
No. R & Gs don't turn, so yes, you will have marks on the lower edge of the bobbins. What I do is run gaffer/duct tape over the stand lugs to prevent marking.
Ah right ok I see......yeah you will get marking over time, especially if they're black. I wouldn't worry about it too much Plus @Lozzy likes things a little rough round the edges! Match made in heaven this
