I can not knock the bloke he has admitted he was at vault and refunded me. these are the messages I got. "Yes, I understand as I've had a bit of that today when packing up another set sold. Whilst I still have 4 sets in my box, I don't consider them good enough to sell. The conclusion is that my supplier seems to be having a bit of trouble making these. I've either got to stop selling them or have an awkward conversation with him! My issue here is not only yours but the fact that I've bought 4 sets from him that I can't sell. I'm more than happy to refund you an amount that would help? Regards, Doug." then he sent me "I've actually sent the uncomfortable email to my supplier, copying and pasted your email. Let's see what returns. I did diplomatically ask him if it was his mould that was to blame as in all fairness the majority of his stuff is good." and then this one "Hi, I've processed the refund to you. I did get an answer for my query: Hi Doug. Hmmm well I don’t know what’s going on with them to be fair. The discolouration must be down to the way they are made,exceed resin or gelcoat. Have to admit I never noticed . Usually the discolouration thing is gelcoat/resin build up. I can dig the moulds out and have a go at making a set a bit more carefully if you like them if that works I can replace all of your Stock of them. If you want to send a set back so I can assess I’ll do that otherwise maybe a pic or two if it will show up on pics. Sorry bout that Russ"
Seems like a genuine fault, however he has obviously tried it on in the first place to sell them to you; if as he says he knows theyre a bit pants then why not go direct back to the manufacturer rather than wait for unhappy customers. All that said fair play for a good result.
I never ever thought I would be able to afford this sort of bike but I have with some help should of brought a 2012 and spent the rest on something else anyway now skint and trying to add a couple of bits I think if I won the lottery I would still go in the Ferrari garage( like nigel said) and try to barter its hard for a leopard to change his spots
what he should of done was took some pictures of them individually and sold them as seconds and then he would not of had a come back
Purchased an ebay pack of Chinese fairing screws for the little aprilia. Look to be good quality and with washers included. Shame is when comparing with OEM (which cost 1.49 ea plus VAT) they are without the stepped shoulder and the head size is smaller. (Don't you just hate that) The fit is not bad for a roughneck, but there is a risk of course of the heads pulling through. So, to do the job properly, I had to bite the bullet and order 20 of the damn things. These are the 'unseen' costs that might catch out a lot of restorers/project workers. Perhaps if the bike were a strict business proposition for profit I'd leave the Chinese in, but colleagues like @hitch and @Selmer50mark would agree with my proposition of doing the job right - no matter what.
