    Ah, right.

For the record, I'm able to touch the ground with my toe when at traffic lights, my belly doesn't envelop the fuel tank cover, and I have many years until following Prince Phillip's lead and surrendering my licence.;)

Well weather was crap on Saturday so did not pick up the bike :( the dealer kindly said they would deliver it Monday (last night).
They turned up on time I get all excited they take bike from the van and dropped it eeeeek!:mad::(. Fortunately it fell on the guy getting it out the van so minimum damage foot peg, bar end, marked indicator and scratch on engine cover. So bike went straight back with the promise of all the parts being replaced. The chaps ankle is in a bit of a state he will certainly feel it today so hopefully will get it this weekend all being well. None of the plastics are marked so thats a good thing every cloud etc.

It tends to spoil the experience it is the first brand new bike I have had for many years now I feel totally gutted to be honest :(. I know accidents happen and he certainly didn't do it on purpose and I am sure all the parts will be replaced does not stop you feeling sh**e though.

Holy crap. I would be friggin' ropeable!!:mad:

Sure, accidents happen, but accidents are usually the result of an external event rather than one's inabilities to competently unload a motorcycle. For me, it would never be the same - but I am 'over-the-top' on such things. I would actually be gunning for a whole new bike!

Sure, it will be repaired to your satisfaction, but we are talking about 180 kilos hitting the deck - whether cushioned or not - and you just cannot be sure that in a few months time a minor electrical problem could not be the result of the drop.

I know I did mention to him that it should be replaced with an SP for the stress and upset ;):) think that didn't go down to well. It was a very low speed drop but I know what you mean once it has been down its been down I suppose it is under warranty for a couple of years so if any thing does happen it will be fixed and if it feels in any way different I am still entitled to reject the bike. I sort of feel violated though its already had an accident with zero miles on it :(

As a VERY pedantic point, I wonder if there is any obligation upon you to 'disclose' this to your insurance company? After all, the bike has been involved in an 'accident' (no matter the nature) and I just can't help wondering what their opinion would be providing coverage to a bike that has already been compromised from new. I wonder if a phone call to your insurer might be wise?

I definitely wouldn’t call your insurer - it’s of no consequence and they’ll only use it to hike your premium.

Understand why you’d feel so gutted Paul - but there is also another way if spinning it psychologically which takes the anxiety out of dropping it yourself.

I had a side stand fail on my bike whilst locking a gate. Admittedly the bike wasn’t brand brand new like yours but it was mint. Gutted, obviously. But then you think ah, well... it was going to happen at some point, some how. And now there’s no need to worry about it... It’s done. Achievement unlocked :D And you don’t even have to sort the damage!

A little bit churlish, sorry - but hopefully you see where I’m coming from.

What was the guy doing as he was unloading it? Was he doing anything unusual? He must have been MORTIFIED, as well as being in agony...

I know what you mean I wont be calling the insurance company as they have already taken a lung to insure it in the first place :). As long as it is perfect when it is returned I will be fine I have dropped bikes before it happens and as you say Achievement Unlocked at no cost to myself. ;) The guy was mortified to be honest, I did feel sorry for him and his ankle is going to be sore today it was swelling before he left last night. He said he would contact me today after the bike had had a full assessment.

Just herd from the lads at the bike shop they are replacing the bike :) as there is additional marks on the swing arm that we did not see last night when the incident happened and it would need replaced to make it right.
I must admit I am pleased, like Nigel said the stresses and strains on a 180KG bike landing on its side you just don't know. Anyway fair play to them for being totally honest and going the extra mile with a full bike replacement.

Hopefully I wont drop it when it arrives . It does make you wonder a very slow speed topple over and the repair bill could have been in the thousands!

Wow - that’s a good result - but how long do you have to wait for a replacement?

It makes you wonder what they’ll do with this one too - turn it into a demo bike, then sell it as seen with a couple of thousand on the clock?

Great to hear. That will be the best news you could have hoped for!

Forgive my being facetious, but I suspect they'll polish out the swing arm and return it to the sales floor;).

I have not seen the marks on the swing arm so don't know if a replacement is needed or just cosmetic I am pleased though with the offer on the 18 model year they will have another one shipped from Honda next Tuesday so should have the quick-shifter etc fitted within a day or so so hoping for weekend after next.
I did ask what would happen to the bike and he said it would be repaired and used as a demo I suppose not selling as new a few cosmetic marks are expected as long as they reduce the price accordingly

HRC may be faster but the black is stealthy and cannot be seen by police or cameras.

And that’s science you can’t argue with.

Just reading this thread has brought back bad memories of the first thing I broke at work(4K China teapot) lol so can sympathise with matey who dropped it.
You seem to have dealt with it all very well mate and had a great result in the end! on the plus side you won’t have to sit around waiting for the crap weather to pass to get out on it.

Yes I must admit he was absolutely devastated. At the end of the day its only another couple of weeks to wait and I would much rather have a new bike rather than a repaired one.

Hey, @PauloHRC needs one of them number plate light lead/connectors from memory - might be worth him getting in touch with your guy to secure one
