Cheapest I found was Post Office @ £112 fully comp . 8 years ncb garaged RR 7 Clean license (God knows how)
I thought mine was dear my 1998 VTR was £105 fully and my 2016 blade was £350 fully and I was gutted at this price my 1961 bsa c15 is £78
My first year on the blade was 1k exactly with MCE. I said that's a suspiciously round figure Year after I moved, cant remember where, and it was 550ish. Year just about finish was 350ish so I'm hoping to be below 300 this year!
Mine was 316.94 that's with titanium cover, break down, leather and helmet and mods. My old r6 was 70 quid that was only a 2k bike value though. Wooden Garage with ground anchor and chain on there. 6 years NBC 7 years with licence(year off)
with only 2 year this is good so is 600£ . But take out the magnifying glass & read the small prints including the ENDORSEMENTS
I've just done a comparison thingy, £290 cheapest with Principle? Not heard of them before. Will be calling my current insurer and Bemoto to see what can be done.
I had the same scenario as you last year totally mental cost for insurance it comes down to 400 for this year thank goodness. Try the compare sites, go compare and compare the market. Com. Good luck!
Quote request sent to Bemoto for the SP2. This will be VERY interesting to read of what they propose.
+1 for Bemoto. Tried them last year and they weren't very competitive, but this year they were one of the cheapest. And they cover all the mods on my Blade.
It must be Halloween!! Insurance has become a 'Trick or Treat'. As posted above (#29) I am awaiting Bemoto's quote for my SP. In the meantime, to keep them honest, I thought I'd do the usual comparison sites. I used Compare the Market and Go Compare. Here's the results. Confused? So am I!! Look at the variations for the same info input.
It is an absolute lottery - I’m sure they pick a number out of a hat and then multiply it by the sum of the digits in your mobile phone number
Spoke to a mate who works a local bike dealers. He said a lot of people are having trouble getting insurance on bikes worth over £20k regardless of age, NCB, area and security arrangements.
Just found this. In fairness, same comments could probably be made about any insurance company: http://www.beware-bennetts-insurance-cancellation-policy.co.uk/
Also use Bennetts seem very competitive with two bikes, Blade and Ducati SF. Never claimed though so can’t comment on how it goes when the Sh1t hits the fan.
That's probably common among us all. We go for the best (and not necessarily cheapest) quote and will NEVER know how fair and upfront our insurer is until we make a claim. Exception to this would be (in my opinion) @T.C who I could see scrutinising every line of relevant quote and contract.
I don't know what made you say that because I am just as guilty of not checking. And my only reason or excuse is that in the event that I have a crash or I am injured, then I am not usually going to care how good my insurer is as I am making a claim directly against the third party and their insurance and you don't need to get your own insurer involved other than to notify them and in the event of a damage only get them to refer you to their panel law firm or claims management group (which is where having LEI can be helpfull). The only time that the competence of my own insurance policy becomes reevant is when I am making a claim against my own policy because of my own carelesness or stupidity.
My perception was that your background would propel you to cross the Is and dot the Ts. Perhaps it just adds fuel the fallacy that the tradesman painter doesn't necessarily have the nicest house in the street!
Another case of 'foot in mouth' disease here I think. Still waiting on BeMoto to get back to me. Got back to Bennetts re their quote on post 31 above and asked for a multi-bike quote with my 2018 SP2 and 2011 Blade. Can't believe it. £676.35 for both, with normal excesses etc. I just can't see that being beaten by anyone. Would still prefer all my policies under one roof, but I can't see BeMoto getting anywhere near this. I'm wondering if they took pity on me coz I'm an old bastard!!
I had a bit of a wobble yesterday and thought about letting the blade go. Few different reasons but I took the covers off it last night and remembered why I had been through this before and ended up keeping it! Called bemoto and it's the first year they have been competitive for me (first year paying as a 30 year old). They beat my renewal quote and were nearly as cheap as the random names which pop up on comparison websites. On their platinum cover declaring the long list of mods was below £300. Best thing is over the last 3 years I have spoken to them it has always been a person who rides bikes going through the quite with you. Always helps when you say I've done x y and z to it and they know what you are talking about!
