Well done dude. I'm sure you have saved a life or two with that amount. Fair play to ya more people should do the same.
Well done Ken. You put me to shame, although I think I've got to wait 6-12 months after being inked to give blood?
I have always thought I had some sort of phobia regarding needles? But just been for another injection and no problems.I reckon it's time to get over myself and give the gift of life. I'm in depot today so I shall go to HR and get myself signed up for the next session. Well done Ken. That's quite an achievement.
Thanks Matt, I'll write that down now. It's actually easier to get into the Pentagon than it is to give blood these days. First you have to fill in the gay/crackhead/alcoholic questionnaire before you go, then you've got to drink a pint of water when you get there, then read the instruction manual again, then have them double check your gay/crackhead/alcoholic questionnaire and test for anemia, then once you get to the bed they check it and double check who you are, then they have to clean the area for the needle for exactly 30 seconds with alcohol, then they have to wait 2 minutes for that to dry, then you spend 7 minutes actually donating, then you have to rest whilst supine on the bed, then rest sat up with your legs out straight (the hardest bit), then rest sat up correctly, then they check if you're allergic to plasters, then they put on the first plaster, then they put on a thing like a roll up filter to stop the bruise, then you are advised to have a cold drink and a hot drink plus a choice from the selection of high sugar snacks and then you can make your appointment for the next time. I distinctly remember my first ever donation. I signed the form, they stamped it, they took my blood, poured me a cup of tea, looked at my crash helmet and said 'oh, if you're riding a bike we'll give you another Rich Tea Finger'.
I've given you a thanks Vil' but I'm not overly certain now. Card? I've got my original little blue booklet that they used to stamp, but they haven't used that for years. They went to a credit card type instead but never actually used it. Now it's done by the bar code on the letter they send you.
I have the credit card thing and the more times you give you get set different coloured cards....I have a bronze one 10-24 donations, I just wondered if yours was a platinum one!
To update you regarding giving blood. HR inform me our company no longer give blood as a collective. The transportation costs and working hours lost during company time no longer makes this a viable proposition. In other words. Yeah give blood. But from now on do it in your own time So I'm on it. What's this with tattoos btw? I have a tattoo. Done years ago won't effect my efforts will it?
