i was out today on my bike and i normally ride the blade with an Arai helmet but today had my trusty HJC, what i noticed is that i seemed to have less visibility with the angle of my head and the vision at top of visor if that makes sense.

through the bends i seemed to see less of the road ahead, anyone else either no what the hell im talking about or had similar.

I know exactly what you're talking about.

The cut at the back of the helmet is not high enough, OR, the jacket you're wearing has too high a collar. I've experienced this with an AGV K3 on my aprilia RSV but not on the Blades. It's all relative to the angle of lean to the bars and the consequent angle of our head which tilts the back of the helmet into our neck and then pushes the helmet forward.

Perhaps the helmet is a tad loose for this to occur. You could try to sit a bit more upright, but I know that doesn't usually work. I did spend money on getting a collar shortened on my jacket and that solved the problem.

i stopped using my hjc because of this, i found the hjc sits lower on my head compared with the arai, the arai is an out and out race lid (rx7 v)which will always sit a little higher

I've never gone that route. You've obviously found benefits with that; do they actually customise (add to or delete from) the internal fit or just ensure the shelf size is correct?

They will start with what size you think you are s/m/l and see how it fits first then if need be go from there.
with my arai I have a med crown with small sides/cheeks.
If the general size fits you well they can fine tune it so to speak by adding layers to the back of the individual sections

I had the arai custom fit treatment at the NEC show 2017. They fine tune by adding and removing padding the create your preferred fit. I couldn't use an arai without the service, shoei is a much better off the shelf fit for me but having the custom fit is even better. Means I have to buy a helmet and have it properly fitted in November only lol.

I got an LS2 Arrow Evo recently as I discovered at the London bike show it was a surprisingly good off the shelf fit. Being designed as a race lid it’s got a particularly big visor opening - especially high up so when you’re in a tuck you can still see where you’re going.
It’s noisy as fuck so I wouldn’t want to wear it for touring but I definitely notice the difference in visibility over my Shoei NXR (which in all other ways is great).

I use a Shark Vision-R Series 2 and have no issues under normal riding stance or tucked up and I’m 6’3” tall. I also like the inbuilt drop down tinted visor feature.

I've never had this problem with HJC, the fit for me is perfect. Used it on trackdays too and visibility has never been compromised in a tucked position. I've got two RPHA 10 plus models, the later RPHA 11 is a narrower fit for some reason which I found out when I recently upgraded to one. It's since been returned but only because it was too tight even though it was XL.
Which model do you have @D16PJM?

You say it's you 'trusty HJC'? Is this the first time you've experienced this problem?? Maybe the lining is shot and you need to replace as it's sounds like its loose.

I also have a Lorenzo rep, few years old now but still a quality bit of kit. Also mines the proper one unlike the cheapo one that @nigelrb has! !:D:D;)

i have had the HJC some time and normally use on my commute when i decide to take the bike, model is a IS-17, i wear an XL and my Arai is XL also.

not 100% happy with the fit of the arai, it has only been worn a hand full of times but visibility in it is ok. it is right on the top of the head but cheek pads i would like a bit tighter.

:(:( Yep, I have no defence to that. I have an eye for bargains, but can't see myself spending £300-plus (which I SHOULD BE doing) on a 'proper' helmet. It really is inconsistent with my bike buying strategy where I'll pay over the odds for a certain bike, but won't shell out on my HJC 'Chakri' which a couple of guys have scored for a good price.

Maybe I'll just part ex an RS50 for a helmet.:D
