I have just replaced part of the system in the toilet which allows you to flush the toilet. Not a particularly big job.
No leaks and is now flushing again.
However, the on off valve, just below the cistern is now leaking when a turn the screw to vertical (on).
Why is this and how do I rectify it? Thanks.

Would seem as if a rubber seal is missing, or, something hasn't been tightened enough.

If you're sure all has been reassembled correctly, I would run a small bead of silicone around the faces from where the leak shows.

i am assuming you have a compression joint with the screw you turn to turn the water off on the inlet, these rarely get moved so when you do turn them off can have a tendency to weep a bit, replacing the joint again not a big job just have to turn the mains off to the toilet.

He only charged me £10. Took him about 15mins. Removed the valve and put some white tape on the threads.

Gotta disagree with nige on this one. Ptfe every time. Silicone would’ve been useless.

Yep, and fair enough too. I was imagining a fitting flush against the cistern rather than a thread.

I'll stick to bikes - but excluding tyres, suspension, Power Commanders, ECUs, exhausts, tank pad affixing, LEDs, Solar Chargers . . .

Frig it. I'll just do cleaning and fuel stabilisers:D:D.
