Shame there is no more contribution for 'rest of the world' bikes.

With only 58 out of the supposed 300 accounted for, I am sure many of us would like to know how many are locked away in Japan, for instance, or any other country for that matter.

Could we safely assume that only about 30 might have been dispatched for race teams/privateers?

The Japanese market got 20 bikes in 2017 - assigned by lottery draw.
UK seems to be closer to 40+ bikes now spread over 2 years.
US is 80+, Australia I believe only 5 or so. Then Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Holland, Italy and Spain all seemed to have got their own batches of SP2 bikes.

500 have been produced for world wide sale to comply with FIM Homologation requirements covering 2017 and 2018 model years. Homologation is good for 5 years.

The only 'out of VIN order' bikes seem to be the early 2017 models used in racing. I have one of those frames, many of those frames have an 'X' VIN number and where either replacement frames for WSBK approved chassis.

Then there will be the RRW chassis with SP2 engines and Racebase chassis (these where all black frames) with SP2 engines, they probably have come from the pool of 500, Honda is not going spend any more than they need to and make more than the bare minimum.

Then the rest of the Superbike and Superstock bikes raced in NZ, Australia, Brazil, UK, Holland, Germany etc seem to all have been pulled from retail inventory. And this number is actually a lot. Probably close to 50 or more from around the world.

Thanks RC. I actually tried to get confirmation from Honda UK as to the exact quantity imported into UK, but for some reason they are reluctant to offer a definitive number - even when I am on their records as a purchaser. I mean, it's not as if I'm from Yamaha trying to suss out the competition! (Now this is revisited, I'll have another try on Monday. I do have a couple of contacts:))

    Ah, an old one!:D:D

Seriously though, a shipment came in in March last year. I'd had a 4 week wait for the 2018 'J' model and mine is #130.

Was out on mine yesterday (bit of sun down here in W Mids) and always marvel how great these things are - especially after taking it straight out after my 2011. Clicked over to 1850 miles which might surprise those who say I don't ride my bikes:).

Found your missing decimal point ;) I was driving near your neck of the woods yesterday to avoid the M42/M6, kept an eye out but didn't see any Hondas let alone blades.

Picked up my SP last week, having had 6 blades before and also swapping bikes 5 times last year i have to say what a bike.

Given the fact my arse couldnt sit on a bike longer than 3mth i was concerned financially about how the SP drops value as last year i swapped bikes and prob lost £1500 all together, but i saw this with KTM 2 yrs ago, they just knocked £5k off a GT and used bikes plummeted but have since recovered once the deal ended

Has been said above, i put £300 dep and even with a few bits added, pay just £180/mth which is £48 less than the Superduke, and when i got a price on a used SP one year old at £13k it was £214/mth

Thats why the prices fall, they cant shift a used bike whilst this offer is on with 0% its worth a good £2k interest charges which effectively is £55/mth extra payment on a used bike so it has to reflect in selling price to move it v new offer and dealers know this.

As long as they remove offer when these bikes go the prices will stabilise

I see it in cars, if we go aggressively on a new Audi offer, we risk the impact on used cars of that same model

Thanks it’s defo an 18 model, the last few that have come to the uk have come from Europe that haven’t sold, sent back to Honda uk to have headlights changed then the bigger dealerships had first dibs on them.

The lesser SP model has dropped like a stone in value I think I counted 8 used models at Dobles yesterday ranging from £11995-£12,995

Why would that be? Because of end of contract on finance and the bike's handed back? That would concern me as a purchaser, because there's no high 'emotion' in owning the bike. It makes me think that some bikes could cop a real hiding simply because the bike will be handed back at end of term. Perhaps this is just my OCD speaking, but I'd want a very close look at such a bike.

I have been on that wheel for a few years ha ha BUT this is the end I totally intend to pay my balloon off in 3 years even if I get most of the money together I can finance the last bit?

Surely at my age I am not going to want anything bigger or better?

I have taken out my new to me 1994 urban tiger and shit myself so I think the sp2 will do me for the next 18 years that will make me 70 ha ha just got to hope I make it now.

Why... because you can hand the bike in prob paying £240/mth, and if you timed it right at beginning got a great deal and moved straight onto a new one for £170/mth... no brainer... this happens when you over cook a new offer £2k off and 0% is worth circa £5k making a new SP really £14k net of the way you fund it before finance interest.. ive had PCP on last 4 bikes i still own it and still clean it to an inch of its life its just funded a diff way and i have two options rather than one at 3yrs

I had a dealer in my Honda days taking 18mth old CRV customers out and putting into a new CRV for same payments because there was £5k off them... they had 76 18mth old CRV’s to shift 3 mths later but thats what happens

I think it’s more like people thinking f-ck this 9k in a year I am getting out of my 0% £99 month deal while i can.
Got to hope this doesn’t happen to the sp2? If my plan works I don’t care if it does.

I sold two bikes out of my small collection last week had them less than a year 2.2k profit so all prices rise both these bikes were 2008 bikes
