Just got to work (near Carnforth) a 54 mile commute from home and it looks like everything between there and here that didn't move last night got gritted . I know the temperature dipped last night, first sweep of the wipers at 5:45 this morning had that familiar sound but it was such a thin layer of moisture it was gone in no time, but the ground is bone dry. What a waste of resource, what a mess and from the forecast they’ll probably do the same again tonight. So that’ll be another week before that lots cleared. I know the gritters are slated if they do and slated if they don’t go out but its bloody frustrating when you were looking forward to getting out at the weekend
Yeah looking at -5 up in the Peaks Sat night! They've already chucked it down again last night in parts around here
At -5, there’s no question, you’d expect them to grit away and rightly so. However, round here at +2 you’d be forgiven for thinking its a case of, the weather man/lady was wearing a woolly top when they presented the forecast = step to and salt the planet As I said, they can’t win in all honesty, they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t
Looks like @PauloHRC might be spending a riveting day looking round that cousins new house after all....poor b#stard lol
I was thinking about meeting them but not doing salt ride, so will go hiking up the derbyshire dales instead, will please the wife at least
In in Hornby near Carnforth. They seem to be gritting every other day at the moment. I ain't going out until we've had a good downpour.
I was born in Yorkshire But grew up in a Derbyshire village.... and the same people are still there.... doing the same things....like marrying their cousins...and going to the local pub in the same clothes and hairstyles they had from from 30yrs ago......it's scary..... thank god I escaped I occasionally ride through it v fast to check them out in the summer....and I'm still chortling 10 miles later
That single image vindicates every single reason why I have a fear of venturing north of the Thames, FFS they look even more interbred than Essexites.
Yeah but thats the same for Yorkshire villages too, infact most villages, I'm glad I moved out too, my daughters cant even stand towns, lets alone villages and moved to London and Bristol lol...
