Guys, need some advice please. I'm thinking if buying a 2010 model blade. It's completely standard. If I buy it, I want to put an aftermarket exhaust on it, but could do with knowing what the issues are. 1). Do all aftermarket exhasts just slip on where the standard can fits and if I do that, will it remain quiet due to the cat? 2). Can the cat easily be removed and if so, who supplies the link pipes? 3). Will I have to have it dyno'd and if so, how much is it? 4). Another advice, very much appreciated.
Cat is in the back box on pre 14 blades. Dont necessarily need fueling done on a dyno but it is preferable. Most get away with generic power commander map.
Link pipe is generally supplied with the end can because the unit's sleeve is directly beneath the motor. I have Yoshi R77 with no re-map. Runs a tad rich, but has no performance concerns. If it did need dyno I had one done on RR4 with Power Commander and it cost £350.00 which included £78.00 for iridium plugs and VAT.
So, it's just a case of taking the end can off, (which includes the cat), and slip on a new end can, job done?
Pretty much. You have to remove the lambda sensor and attach to new link pipe. Also the cables for the flapper valve in the stock exhaust will need removing unless it's an aftermarket can which has a flapper.
If you plan on doing trackdays. Stay clear of stubby cans. Best bet is a piperwerx can that runs up side of bike.
Cheers guys, still mulling over the decision if to buy the blade or not.....mmmmmmm decisions decisions!
I bought the CRT from SC Project, its been delivered BUT, I order the wrong one It's got to go back and then they'll make and send me the right one. Feel sick....
Ahhh, I got caught up in the emotion of it all and ordered the exhaust for the 2011-2013 model; it has a welded, threaded captive nut down on the bend that is closest to the collector pipe(s)/headers for some kind of sensor I'm guessing (O2 sensor?) I was wondering what could possible go in there so I double checked the site and realised my error; to their credit they have said I can send it back and just get it swapped over. As the old saying goes "act in haste, repent in leisure" ...lol
