Tempted by one of the sportracks for my 08 blade. Current plan (for Portugal is September) is just to strap the Kriega luggage to the pillion seat but these seem like a neater solution.

I'd also quite like a smaller rack than the above, fitted with a SW Motech tanklock jobby so that I can fit the kriega bags as a tankbag... But it might end up being more than the motech bag itself...

They apparently stopped putting the cut outs in the base plate in order to force you to purchase the top plate which I did, but to my surprise the base plate came slotted so I could have got away with that only, but I have a 58 litre wet bag so outs better for me, once I reach my destination I'll fit rear seat cowl

The website shows the rack without slots, but it does have slots for the strappy furniture.
I'll bet that rack and plate weigh more than the luggage allowance on an SP?

It’s SP specific, the 5kg relates to the cowl weight the subframe is the same as the normal blade

I don't think it is. It refers to luggage loading, as the sub frame on SP is lighter and less strong. So I'm told on another thread on here.
A 5kg cowl would be going some

Yeah it might be a specific fitment so more people buy it, but to say it's the same subframe as the normal blade, it's just not. Honda will know how much weight is recommended per subframe, rather than a third party that makes luggage.

I haven't said it's the same subframe, what I said was it was SP specific, highly unlikely a third party would design / manufacture and sell something to the public that didn't meet the design intent either

Apologies if I misinterpreted the above. I just wouldn't want to risk it.

Hi - did you get anywhere on deciding what weight you can use on your Hepco & Becker luggage tray?

They replied back and said the rack is certified to carry 5kg of baggage, so shall be travelling light! That said hand luggage was 5kg with some airlines
