OK, I've had plenty of RST leathers but now have a textile jacket. After recent missions combatting Kamikaze Bug Squadrons the jacket is in need of a clean. Didn't think that would be an issue as with my old Hein Gericke jacket it was just a case of removing armour, turning pockets out etc.

Thought it was best to check the label before starting and hit a slight hiccup.

Checked RST website and they say to use a damp sponge, WT actual F !!!

Anyone got any better ideas as there is a reasonable amount of white which will soon look tatty if just sponged down?

Don't wash it. Let it build up with bugs and insects and then sell it to a duck shooter as a camo jacket!!:D

Took the armour out of my rst textile jacket and put it in the wash on a low heat, absolutely fine, you can get a can of waterproofing spray from Aldi for £2 if you feel its letting water in. They lose their waterproofness over time anyway so putting it in the wash once a year is neither here nor there.

Thanks for that. I have some Nikwax stuff for reproofing and cleaning so will give it a go on the lowest temp I can get. TBH I have other textiles that I would wear if I had to go out in the rain, just don't want the RST to fall to bits on me.

Well the NikWax appears to have done a really good job and the bugs are gone. As a bonus I even found some settings on the washing machine that I wasn't aware of, only had it 13 years but I suspect like many I only normally use a couple of the programs

Ha ha. I'm exactly the same. I use 'econ' wash and the dryer (incorporated). There's about 40 pages in the manual explaining auto settings/fine fabrics/water temps etc. I just do the bachelor thing and bang it all in and hope for the best.

I'm about the same with my cooking too!!:D

There was a ready solution to all this, but I know I'd be treading on @bazzashadow 's toes.:D:D;)
