So I rarely use my Blade these days and I also suffer from a bad back so I am looking to possibly move to a more upright bike. Not sure if I should break the bike or sell as is, any thoughts or suggestions on an asking price appreciated. Details below: CBR1000RR 2009 Bike was purchased as a Cat D following previous owners off Bike has 14000 miles Has the following upgrades/mods: 1. HM Dash 2. Carbon frame covers 3. Carbon swing arm covers 4. Powder coated wheels 5. Bazzaz 6. HM Quick shifter 7. Carbon hugger 8. Carbon chain guard 9. Brembo master cylinder 10. Brembo clutch lever and perch 11.Carbon mudguard 12.Honda racing pillion seat cover 13.Integrated rear LED light/indicators 14.Gear shift support bracket 15.HRC quick action throttle 16.Akrapovic slip on 17.Diamond rear sets 18.Showa rear shock from newer blade 19.520 chain and sprockets 20.GB Racing engine covers 21.Brembo front brake calipers 22.Braided brake lines 23.R&G front fork bobbins 24.GB racing paddock bobbins 25.Titanium caliper bolts 26.R&G crash protectors 27.R&G Bar ends 28.Honda comfort seat 29. Aftermarket fairings Probably other stuff I have missed
With all the goodies on it, I think you'd be hard pressed to get what it's worth and what you deserve. I would take off calipers and bolts, rearsets, carbon guard, seat dash etc and sell separately.
I hear what you are saying, I just don't have the time to mess about stripping it. I would be happy with around £4k for it if that is realistic. The extras are over £3k
People will see Cat D and whatever you have it up for will try and use that to knock you down on price. Could be worth putting it on somewhere like the TDR forum, if not I would be tempted to take the main bling parts off if you have the replacement parts to put back on them. Have you tried somewhere like We Buy Any Bikes? Offer will be low but will give you a benchmark.
Huh? Well why ask if you should break or sell as is? The decision's obviously made. On that basis then, I agree with @tuktuk , start at 5.5 and that'll leave you a bit of room for offers. The Cat D could, as BSS suggests, raise some problems. It always turns me away from a bike.
If you're happy getting 4k for it then try that, the fact that's its Cat D will certainly put people off unfortunately but it is a lovely bike. All the extras are great but unlikely to get you a better price. I recently traded my 09 with 7k miles and got £5600 completely standard apart from Gb covers and a Racefit. But that was mint 1 owner super low milage. You really would do better putting it all back to standard and selling its as standard. Then get what you can for the parts....... Or for quick sale, take 4k Cat D seem like a bargain at the time but does anyone ever think of resale ability?? I'd only buy one if it was dirt cheap and I wasn't bothered about getting my money back at the end of it all
Thanks for the input chaps. I went for Cat D as I was planning on making it into a track bike initially but decided against it, plus I enjoy working on bikes more than I do riding them these days. I've put it up for sale at £4900 ono on a few sites so I will see if I get any interest. No rush to sell it, it can sit in the garage looking pretty for a while longer I'd have no hesitation in buying another insurance write off btw, think they are a great way to get a cheap bike if you are handy with tools.
If you like the bike I would look at different bars, I have problems with wrists and neck and know they make so much difference
The bike is up for sale on a few sites at £4900.00. If it does not sell within 4 weeks then I may look at breaking it and will put the parts on here first so you guys have first dibs.
*I ended up taking all the bits off and returning the bike to nearly stock with just a few mods left on it. Sold the Bike for £3400.00 and most of the bling has already been sold, most on here to people who messaged me after I started this thread. The Cat C probably put people off and despite £4900.00 being a good price for what was on it, I had no bites and wanted it gone asap. Think I'm going to end up with around £5400.00 by the time all the bits are sold. I'm happy, def made sense to return to stock and sell the mods separately.
