Hi All I have a 2015 Repsol, this I am trying to get back on the road to start riding..have only covered 1100 miles since new! Done the second oil & filter change last night.. MOT is next week... I was looking to change the standard tyres that come from factory with something with more grip..for fast road and possibly the odd track day. Is the tyre to go for the michelin 2ct? Or is there something else recommended? Integrated indicator / Brake Light How well do these work? As I have always wanted it but never bought one for any of my bikes as I did not want to find these are not bright and give a good indication to the driver behind me that I am indicating. Any thoughts? Also where can I buy one from - if there is a good supplier for these. Power commander 5.. yes or no? In 2 minds. R&G crash bungs..anyone know where I can go buy these today? Around Leicestershire area.. Thanks
Tyres - Will leave this alone as so many opinions and have never used the 2ct as I don't like Michelins. Integrated Brake/Indicator - Had one on a previous bike and loved it. I had all LEDs and was pretty bright Not 100% MOT compliant though so you would need a friendly tester. Power Commander - Yes if you are going to get or dyno'd. Also look at getting a Woolwich tune, or a Bazzaz Crash bungs - Depending which part of Leicester Sportsbikeshop may be pretty close and is a great shop to deal with. Personally I have gone off R&G and use EvoTech Performance stuff instead. Also check out GB Racing.
Just get out on it and ride it! Nothing wrong with the standard tyres. Integrated brake/indicator just means those behind you will never see you indicating, but may be good for posing when you park up. PCV, why, just ride it, once you get some miles you will get a better feel if you need it - have you changed the exhaust or gone full system - if not then it is just a way to lower your bank balance. Spend the money on petrol, and did I mention - ride it!
2ct are a good tyre for the money, there must be a reason they still produce these after so many years! For all round use you cant go wrong with Metzeler M7rr.
Tyres are near 4 years old.. hence wanted to change.. i tend not to use tyres older then this on my car.. Have a Austin Racing can.. think i have an itch to do something and to keep me busy - Also planning a few trips out &..and wanted it all done for when i get out
not seen the 2CT in flesh but from the pics it looks like they have a pointed crown like pilot power (I used for 10k+ miles). If so it means the bike will be very quick at leaning & handling giving you very good cornering speed (which I love) but you can quickly get to the edge og it and sometimes go past it (which I have) I have changed to power 3 which is more progressive (= slower to lean). Will either go back to Ppoer or P 2CT at the next change
Agreed. The mot failure on this year of bike is to do with one side of the brake light not working when indicating. Although the other side stays on apparently the light going out is a mot failure. I think Motodynamic have addressed this problem for the 2017 > model. I’ve ordered one so we will see.
Tyres are a personal preference. If it’s Michelin your after give the Power RS a go, wouldn’t even bother with the 2CT or Pilot Power 3. RS are streets ahead. As mentioned with the integrated tail light, could be a mot fail. Power Commander is really only required if you have an aftermarket exhaust. I run a Power Commander along with the auto tune, smoothed everything out massively even compared to the custom map I got from a dyno tune.
R&G crash Bungs fitted... Was going Leeds..so collected them from the Sports Bike Shop...unfortunately it was the only thing I bought - everything else was mega expensive!
