https://www.gpone.com/en/2019/06/02...ike-a-clam-the-dream-team-is-a-bit-rocky.html Looks like Lorenzo’s days at the repsol squad maybe numbered!
Wouldn't be surprised. Only concern would be which rider would possibly lose their seat next year to allow Lorenzo to join. Don't see Yamaha as an option unless Rossi retires, Ducati coild be possible but that would depend on Petrux doing nothing after his great win on the weekend and Dovi agreeing. KTM and Aprilia I would say are non runners, so that basically leaves Suzuki which is being recognised as a good bike to ride but is just a bit down on power. Wouldn't see Suzuki letting Rins go, so would JL be number 2 or would they have 2 no 1s?
I'm a fan of Lorenzo, but the reality is that he's taking way too long to adapt to a team that won 4 of the last 5 championships, and has a team mate that is constantly fighting for victories. It was the same at Ducati... only became competitive after one and a half years, and one could argue that it was because the distinctive rinding style Ducati appears to have, but the reality is that many other riders, including from satellite teams, were quicker than him on Ducatis. It's being the same with Hondas this year... So, yeah, maybe his days as a MotoGP rider are coming to an end, not only at Honda.
He’s your typical old style 250 rider, all about smooth corner speed! Anything that bucks around and he spits his dummy He thought he could ride the Ducati and look how long it took him to adjust He was lucky at Yamaha that Rossi had pretty much sorted the bike for him
He was 20 seconds off the pace compared to the front runners in the last race It’s like saying Rossi next championship is just round the corner! He 32 and not won a championship since 2015, unless you take out half the grid he won’t be a winning a championship this year either
Let's not forget he won 3 races in emphatic style last season, who's not going to give him a ride should he part ways with Honda? Most teams on the grid are probably not 100 percent happy with one of thier riders, they'd all jump at the chance to snatch Lorenzo should a seat become available! He's a multiple race winner and a recent one at that
Why not give him a ride? He's disruptive, moans a lot unless the bike is perfect for him, doesn't like the wet, and all you will get is negative publicity unless he does actually gel and win with the bike. As he has already been in the factory teams of Yamaha, Ducati and Honda maybe he should just put his big boy pants on and either knuckle down with Honda or go and try with a "lesser" factory.
Just to put it in perspective......Lorenzo has won more races in the last 5 years than the legend that is Valentino Rossi. 3 of which have come in the last 2 years on a bike that Vale couldn't win on.......and while he was on the supposedly easier to ride Yamaha. Stats don't lie Lorenzos career is not over!
To compare Ducati who piloted Vale and this one that was brought almost to perfection is not entirely correct. Luigi Dall'Igna - the best since Duсati since Stoner’s departure
I have no qualms in saying that if it wasn't Rossi then Yamaha would have dropped him. The thing is Rossi brings a lot of good PR, coverage and supporters with him, let alone all the sponsorship. Riders can only live on past reputation for so long, but Rossi has a longer and better past than Lorenzo
Changing track slightly we have seen Zarco, Quartararo, Morbidelli and Rins make the jump from lower classes in the past few years and not seem out of their depth. Is that the ones coming through have got better, the bikes are more equal, or is it that the aliens are becoming more terrestrial?
The bikes now are more even! Think before when it was 250 2-stroke and 1000cc 4-stroke the difference in power delivery was chalk and cheese Now it’s 4-stroke all the way the power delivery is basically the same so riding styles don’t differ as much
You’re right Rossi might not have won as many races as Lorenzo but like you say the stats don’t lie! Yet Rossi has been placed higher in the standings every year, even Lorenzo’s last year at Yamaha Rossi was still above him in the champion ship
Judging from FP3 I'm not sure it went well for JL, even MM was getting annoyed with him. Think I have scooped the press on news that will soon break across the world EDIT: corrected myself about the session number
I've just watched FP3...... Finished 10th and apart from that I'm not sure what you're referring too?
Looks like HRC top brass have had a heart to heart with JL and decided that he should have a new role - Wrecking Ball
So Lorenzo’s new job is to take out all of the opposition, can’t wait to see how this works out for him
