This company installs an aftermarket gel pad which is much thicker than the one in the E-Comfort Honda seat and they appear to be very good indeed. Has anyone had experience of taking this approach? Take a look: https://www.saddlecraft.co.uk/what-we-do/seats/gel-pads/
Not seen them before. Could be interesting but not sure how much cheaper they would be than buying a Honda one. Let us know if you do go down this route.
I've done it....the beauty of it is you can choose everything yourself. I went into the workshop and felt all the inserts and coverings and chose exactly what I wanted. Can highly recommend. https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/bootleg-bike-seats-preston.31527/
Hey...looking at your seat I think my sp might have one of those on! It came with an aftermarket one from previous keeper and I wondered what it was! If it's the same and it certainly looks it...I can vouch that it's mega comfy certainly as good as the e seat. It's also higher than the standard or e seat so it's raised my sitting position which I quite like. I initially thought the sp was higher than standard then realised it was the seat. It's great...I love it
Certainly looks like the same material Lozzy. When I visited his workshop he had rolls and rolls of material to choose from but he did say that one is popular for the bikes as it's a tough texture and adds grip which plenty of people like (I know plenty prefer a slippy seat too).
This is well worthwhile remembering and I've saved it in my Honda file. Some great work in the gallery. Interesting comment by @Lozzy , because my first thought was that it's a good idea for those who want a lower riding position (short legs etc) so could get a seat made a few millimetres thinner rather than go to the troubles of lowering kits etc.
Well I don't know if the one on mine is a 'standard' fitting by the company but if it is and you're already a shortarse ( person of small stature ) it'll raise it too much probably.
I didn't use that company, but I did the same on my old bike, and it was better than the Honda comfort seat I have now. Vikings near Brands Hatch did a good job with the comfort gel, and recovered with a more grippy cover.
It looks like it might be something the company Nytol mentioned could do? https://www.viking-motorcycle-seats.co.uk/mobile/#about_usB
Yes...my sp is definitely higher with this on than the e comfort, which will make it even higher than the oem as well. I can measure both of them tomorrow to give you an idea of how much if you need that info
