Woke up early all excited with the sunshine, and then remembered I had the bike booked in for the second service today. At least I got to try out the replacement pads I bought for my lid as the old ones were worn allowing the lid to lift slightly at speed. X-Lite do 3 different size pads for my lid and I went for the thickest ones, 55mm, and am happy with the result as it is now really snug, possibly too snug but I know it will loosen up a bit over the next couple of rides. Got the dealer's loan bike at the moment, an old Yam 600, possibly a Divi. Reminded me why I got a naked as sat behind the screen it was too easy to ride at speed.
... really comfortable with grip puppies. But haven’t had a chance to do another 400 mile round trip yet...
Did a bit of double-dipping. Out and about for a while and then a photo shoot to keep the neighbours wondering how many bikes I have!
Fitted the Quickshifter...my, my, my...what a sh*t job....took me bloody hours. Went for a 20mile test ride...ooooh what fun it is blasting up through the gears on full throttle. At lower revs it makes a fantastic sound too...
I bet he did, it’s a real pain in the wotsit. You just keep pulling it all apart thinking where the heck will this end
Yep exactly same...he said the instructions could have been better too. Where did you end up putting the ecu thingy?
There was no room under the seat so it’s in space under the rear seat cowl, right at the front, so it’s literally under the back of the seat but in the rear cowl space if that.t makes sense. The cable’s were just about long enough though I did have to lever a screwdriver off the top end of the engine against the inner frame so I could pop the cables down the side otherwise they would have fouled the air box from sitting flush. Also the cables between the plugs that connect to the coils are literally “just” long enough, they could,do,with 5-10mm extra. They’re a right sod to get too as well especially the two on each end.
Yes that's where he had to put mine and said the same about the other cables only just being long enough.
Decided on a trip east over on the A59, great ride but had to turn back about 5 miles short of Harrogate to get back for 5 o’clock as promised. Still clocked up about 140 miles all together. I’d forgotten how nice a run that is until recently I was over that way in the car.
Picked the bike up from the service and took the missus out for a quick shakedown ride to the Woods, and before anyone says it the shakedown was for the bike Don't know what was up with people yesterday but the amount of dickheads on the roads was scary. People overtaking lorries and not seeming to be worried about the oncoming cars, people doing 12mph, yes twelve mph, in town. Idiots trying to jump queues on the roundabout and wondering why I give them a gobfull when they found me alongside them, and then some idiot comfort breaking at 40mph on the straight of an NSL stretch. Those were just the highlights, maybe it was a hangover from the summer solstice Bike was great though and pushed a bit harder than I normally do when the wife is on the back seat, nothing mental mind you
I made a bracket for mine and used the bolt for the front sprocket guard, no room left under the seat cowl with PCV, Autotune etc. I may get an exhaust servo eliminator and use that space at some point.
A place to buy expensive and not very good cuppas, but also get to see lots of bikes http://www.willinghamwoods.com/
