    Evening all a few questions,
I bought a 2009 model non abs, firstly it warms up very quick in slow moving traffic ,to around 102-104 .I looked in the manual this isn’t too hot but I wondered, has anyone tried waterless coolant or water wetter and did it keep it a tad cooler?
Second thing the bike turns over very slow but always starts.A friend has a cb1000r which is the same but I am thinking I should replace the battery.Do these have any earth faults or does battery sound right?
I can’t test anything at the moment as I am away for a couple of weeks but thought I would ask anyway.
    Thanks people

Both sound normal for a blade to me. Any time I've been in the city centre and stopped at lights etc the temp quickly rises. As long as your fan kicks in at the right temp and it doesn't go sky high then its nothing to worry about.

They do tend to sound a bit laboured when starting. You can change for a lithium battery which cranks a bit harder but aslong as the original starts the bike I'd stick with it.

I use 'normal' coolant in my 2011. Slow-moving traffic will always see the temp rise quickly. Fan generally cuts in at about 102 and drops temp to around 98 - 99 - highly dependant on conditions of course. I have never used 'waterless coolant' (or similar products) perhaps because of my belief of following manufacturers recommendations.

If your friend's starter motor sounds the same as yours, could it be that you've come from a bike with a faster turning starter motor and the Blade only seems slow in comparison? If it's starting alright, there's probably no problem. You'd certainly know if there was a problem because Blades hate a battery carrying low voltage. If you or a friend have a multi meter, it's a simple enough process to check its standing voltage and its charging rate.;)

Temperature is completely normal, especially in this weather.
Mine regularly sees 106 degrees with me sweating my conkers off, desperately willing the fekkin lights to turn green ;)

Haven't heard that word for a while.

I used to play 'conkers' with my sister. I'm guessing the application of the word has changed over the years.;)

yep all completely normal, I thought the same about the laboured start up but you get used too it. Temperature wise, just try not to sit in traffic, feel the breeze and ...….crack on!;)

Mine always sounds like its flat. The battery is not really up to the job. Weight saving etc.

I went for a lithium when my lead acid needed replacing and so far so good (though I did obviously have to change my charger) - no regrets and would recommend

Might try the lithium then can’t get used to the laboured start got my fingers crossed every time my r1 used to turn over fast.

I wouldn't worry about...the only time my old Repsol failed to start in 50k was when it needed a new battery. It started every time in all weather all year round.

Mine hits 50 degrees in mere seconds and in town gets to 100+ in about 5 minutes tops, but never goes past 107.
Just to confirm as well, my bike has just gone through a major overhaul and small part of that was a new battery and she still sounds like she can't be arsed waking up for a couple of seconds, but never fails to fire and a mate of mine with the 2010 has one that sounds even more laboured. Have the lithium battery as well, just FYI.

The starter motors in 08 plus blades are always slow! If it’s fires up there’s no problem
