Think I will say my 1999 one Nige. May have been something about that time but it was flawless. Build quality was incredible (lot better than the newer ones). Fast enough, and in those days the only way Blades broke down was - Flat tyre, run out of fuel or lose your key. In my opinion they were fast enough back then.
Strange that not many rate the early 16inch front bikes. Question was even weighted as it didn’t ask which is the best 1000RR. I loved both my 97 RRV and 98 RRW (RRW was the first fat blade and was probably better than the RRV but felt too bland) but for me it had to be my RR9. ONE of the best bikes I have owned. Better than my K5 Gixer (preferred my K3 to the 5 actually) and my 01 RSV-R Mille. Still not as bonkers as my MT10 though!
Too many young pups on here to have experienced the range of 900s. As you're probably aware, many of those 16 inchers have been replaced with 17s. Makes a bit of a problem for those seeking true originality.
Yes, you immediately come to mind when I think of those with small ones. Just didn't want to 'put you out there'!
This is original with the 16 wheel and it’s bloody good to ride your riding along and thinking to yourself I really shouldn’t be going this fast but it’s so easy. Not saying it’s the best but
Stunning Gary. They do feel kinda analogue in comparison to newer bikes but you can’t beat the feel of a well set up set of carbs. It’s only recently that fuel injection has bettered it!
I was only saying to a mate yesterday that the most fun I had on any bike I’ve had was my 97 blade. Took liberties on it, binned it repaired it and went again.
The carbs are smooth as, I found a brand new rear shock and had new springs put in the front it handles so well, shame I had a bird strike the other week I need a repair to the nose over the winter
