Looking to remove the rear footrests from my 2017 blade, and have found R&G blanking plates for £55 (https://www.rg-racing.com/browsebike/Honda/CBR1000RR_Fireblade/2017/BLP0071BK/) - just wondered if there are any alternatives.? Also going to look for a rear seat cowel, but can’t be forking out £200 to Honda for one.. seen a couple of ABS plastic ones on eBay but looks like they ship from China / Hong Kong..
Can't you just get the grey OEMs used on the SPs, or use the black plugs (I don't know their real name but they are used for fairing and car door trim) shown in pic 2.
There are some footpeg hangy things I think people use but I’m sure someone will know what they are called Where’s @Lozzy when you need her
Streethooks bought off a guy on the forum...an alternative if you want to refix the rear pegs on and off quick or attach luggage straps etc
Thanks nigelrb - didn’t realise the SPs had the rear footrest holes - assumed it was a different frame.. will investigate options but like the car trim clips as an interim cheap option.
I wouldn't bother with street hooks, because re attaching the rear footpegs is very simple on a 2017. So if you want to re attach them, you don't need a set of street hooks to do so....... They're only relevant for pre 2017 models.... They won't fit your bike. As for a seat cowl..... Just get a Chinese one, they're 100% Identical to the originals. Can't go wrong really
I must admit you have not got to strip the bike to remove the 17’s footpegs and the holes are underneath, Good point paulo I thought I had seen someone on here have some on a 18 but I might of bee. Seeing things
It's possible someone might have similar, especially if they often transport the bike in van to track time. The 'hooks' make excellent tie down points.
If you took the blanking plates out of the newer model would you be able to thread straps thru the holes?!?
The holes are only a 10 mm bolt size. On the SP they're unthreaded and I'm not even sure they go all the way through the sub frame. I'd think not - for strength. I guess in reality, strapping through the 'triangle' section would be more than adequate for transportation.
Ahh right is that the same for the different sub frame on the standard? Guess it is. Might be worth contacting the guy who did all ours on here...maybe he's doing 2017+ hooks now. Saves putting the ugly pegs on just to strap luggage if you need it...and the weight!
Yep, same casting - without the threads. Was thinking it could be a small market for @mk3golfcab , but he's probably still holding stocks of the chainguards!
Thanks @nigelrb, @Lozzy, @bazzashadow and @PauloHRC for your input on this. I found eBay doing a 20% discount on MandP Direct, so have bought a pair of the R&G rear footrest blankers for £40. Obviously a lot more expensive than the plastic plug option, but hey, I needed some retail therapy. Once arrived I'll stick a photo up - although it's not going to be as good as @nigelrb 's bike-in-the-lounge pic. Happy Friday to all!
Thanks 'Doc'. I think R & G is taking the mickey with that, but I'll reserve judgement until you post up the product! Anyway, nothing wrong with a bit of retail therapy!!
You don’t need them in the 17my onwards I’d just use short button head bolts to fill the holes if needed
