I'm still saving those take-out containers. They'll be useful one day, mark my words! @RC1000rrr6 if you find one here in The States, let me know if you need it forwarded on. But postage gets paid first.
Nice one mate, is the only alternative to buying from The States to buy a full aftermarket system? I only bought the bike last week, its my first fireblade so all new me. Bike has an a Quill slip on system but i dont like it and want to change to a MIVV or TBR if anyone knows anyone selling? Thanks,
Why dont you have it cut out, take it to an exhaust place and let them decat it for you, or am I missing something, I had my 07 done that way
Bought myself an excellent set of downpipes from ebay for like £80 delivered (UK seller). Look at the pics on eBay listings, some already come de-cated! (presumably US versions). Haven't fitted yet so will be interested to see what the fuelling is like
Picked up a full Akrapovic system for it the other day so that should do the job, will see how i get on trying to fit it.
Have you got some form of power commander installed already? Bike will run lean with a full system if you don't.
No i haven't got one yet, been keeping an eye out but have not seen one. Any recommendations on the best one for an RR6? Or where to get?
PC3 or PCV will work fine, I'd look for something second hand on ebay if you're not in a mad hurry. Power Commander have got maps on their website you can download but best results will happen if you can get the bike on a dyno. What did you have before the RR6 by the way?
I’ve been looking at the PCV’s there is a sale on the website at the moment and they are cheaper then the second hand ones on eBay that I’ve seen, but I may wait for a bit and see what else comes up as I’m not in a rush with winter. Thanks for the advice! Had an rr3 cbr600 and a KTM 690 SMR and then some 250s and 125s before that
Looking at getting a used one on Ebay now and thinking is there any issue installing a USA one on a UK bike with ECU, connections, maps or anything?
Out of my depth here, but I'd be wondering about compatibility because of our tougher emissions laws. (California bikes are different also). As a safeguard, perhaps check with Dynojet: https://dynojet.co.uk/contacts
I'd be surprised if there was any difference at all between the US and UK hardware - but as Nigel says, worth checking with Dynojet first!
My US pipes are now all shiny and waiting to go on so will see at the weekend if all back up and running (radiator replace as well with few other bits). Going to try first without the power commander, but if no joy will go down that route. Dynojet were offering 25% off at NEC - missed that offer
