I went out for a cycle today, pauses for lycra jokes, and some twat in a van came very effing close to ending my time on this planet. It was enough for me to contact the Police, who as you may expect were practicing at being either a chocolate fireguard or brake lights on a submarine. I rang 101, which basically says go to website, website says download form, 4 page form says unless you have independent witness(es) AND video they probably won't prosecute. Anyway I had cameras running both front and rear so you judge, but bear in mind the wide angle lens makes it seem farther away than it actually was. At first I thought they were trying to play chicken, but now wonder if they were on their phone etc. Sadly the glare/angle if the windscreen doesn't allow you to see the driver. Waits for jokes about funny voice/accent, and whats the point of telling a driver to watch it For those who are interested the ride distance was just under half a nigel, but brought the total this week to just under 2 nigels
Yea looks like the driver wasn't paying attention to me rather than trying to cause you harm. The people who are out on country lanes playing games have no problem forcing cyclists onto the grass or coming up behind and pushing them off. I'm a keen cyclist aswell, I'm riding more and more off the roads now because of this sort of thing......gravel bike on as many off road paths as possible for me.
BBC news reports that history was made on 2nd August 2019 when Britain ditched its Imperial and Metric systems and has implemented the new 'Nigel's' on all road signage.
Never got the whole MTB thing, probably an age thing as BMX etc was far too late for me, closest was a Raleigh Grifter. I like riding on the road and have lots of decent back roads to ride on around my house. In nearly 10 years I've been lucky and not had a twat like this, some cars doing close overtakes, hence the rear camera, but nothing this bad. Ironically every other vehicle before and after this twat were really considerate.
There are some great off road tracks for off road bikes, gravel, mud, steep inclines and steep decent plus no traffic and no diesel fumes to suck in too, but each to their own. BTW I am older than you, so doubt age has anything to do with it
They had more space on their side of the road so definitely too close. Looks like they start veering away at last second. Probably more engrossed in their conversation than the road. Send it in via submit dash cam footage and fill in the witness report/statement.
