Bike didnt sell ! Guy thought it was clocked because descrepancy on hpicheck ..

Even though between the mileages i have a mot cert stating 7k miles !! Take a look at photos
Spoke to hpi and apparantly its because of the private plate that was on , my have been recorded off another bike when removed or something?

What a load of bollox they talk? Does that mean the secondhand number plate market has just taken a hammering? The plate is just a registration mark to identify a particular vehicle not a previous one! You’ve provided your keeper details and vehicle details so it identifies your vehicle and your mileage! Give them your mileage and tell them to kiss it:mad:
@nigelrb feel free to advise on this please and clarify it for us?

Understandable that the buyer walked. You should be able to get it sorted but it will be a bun fight between HPI and VOSA as to who has the incorrect data.

The MoT and DVLA figures should always be taken as the most accurate ones.

Many of you will know I have a few private plates, so I have had instances of having MoT done both BEFORE and AFTER plate changes. DVLA automatically update their records according to the VIN as the definitive identifier.

For instance, you might present a vehicle for MoT with a new plate. The MoT tester links in to the DVLA data base to input MoT details. However, if the update on the registration details has not been forwarded or delayed by the private plate issuer, the DVLA data base will obviously not recognise the new registration. This might be what has happened here.

Anyone purchasing a bike would usually regard the DVLA details' accuracy as unquestionable.

I'm not sure this can be resolved without a lot of effort in collaboration with both DVLA and HPI Check to find out exactly what happened in 2014 - 2015. As you (@Chukzn17 ) were presumably not the owner at that time, there might be a heap of difficulty to resolve this. A query to DVLA about ownership and number plate change would be the best starting point to prevent any further selling probs.

the guy who was going to buy my bike had a friend with him checking my bike over , and insisted the bike had been clocked! Offered me £700 below what we agreed.. i turnt it down as i was adament it was not a 30k miles bike!
Good job i did really .. the guy turnt up still pissed and took my bike 140 down a 40!! Needless to say i made police aware and got a crime ref incase any comeback, also photo’s were taken of the guy along with car reg !
