I was back in court today on a 91 in a 50 . My fault guilty as ect .I'd just overtaken a lorry it was still a dual carriageway but dropping into a 50 and i gave it too much. Well I had a letter from work saying needed licence for work and i said I drop one of my kids off at school. We have 3 at 3 different schools currently all in different directions . I was asked why youngest could not use bus I said he's nine with learning difficulties so that would not work. Wifes currently unemployed so i got a £570 fine and 6 points. As they said banning me would cause undue hardship to others. So a total of 15 now. Blade is going to have a bit of a rest for a while and prob become a track only tool as I search for a suitable moped for my 6.2 inch frame .
At least you didn't lose your license. When I was pulled for 150 in a 55, it cost me $10,000 (by the time it was all over) and 2-1/2 days in jail before I was arraigned and released (booked in on a Friday night, released on Monday morning).
I was just lucky I didn't end up in prison. With a lawyer, I got it reduced to failure to signal and paid a $5000 fine. It's all about money here.
I think its much same here. My mate got done same bit of road but in car and he was doing 110 . Got 3 points and £250 fine.
Good to hear you managed to keep your license. Is that 15 points in total? How does that work with insurance etc?
I got caught doing 98 in a 70 and got let off with a talking to. I then got caught doing 75 in a 50 whilst cutting across 3 lanes without signalling and got let off with a talking to. I perfected looking like this when I'm in trouble.
It is mad. Guy before me had 6 points already got another six and a ban for 2 months for 38 in a 30. It's a lottery. I have been very lucky.
Run of the mill average Joe will indeed get a ban for more than 12. But if you can prove you need your licence for means that would otherwise cause other people unnecessary stress then you can maintain your licence. The reasons pointed out by @Gravel trap are valid ones for sure! The work one is probably helped as well due to Mrs being unemployed and having children. I think we would all be calling the law a joke much more if they had taken his license, causing undue strain on the family and children.
As a fully law abiding citizen myself always keeping to the speed limits you would have thought the judge would say if you knew you were also putting your family at risk from this you should get 2 years hard labour, It does seem strange people can claim they need their licence, So surely they should be more careful. ( not biased either way been done had the fine )
@Spygoat I clicked like to your speeding thread, I was actually looking for the you’re my fuckin hero emoticon but like will have to do! 150 in a 55!
What are the consequences of a ticket like this on your future insurance in the US? Were you also able to get back on the road after paying the fine? I think here you'd be looking at a 3 year ban for something like that, and then insurance would be all but impossible afterwards.
No consequences. It was a minor violation,. not even a moving violation. It never actually hit my driving abstract, so it is like it never happened. I was never off the road.
That's a much better uncomplicated result than we have. Pay up some cash...stew your heels in a cell for the weekend and punishment done! At 150 here there have been bikers jailed/fined/disq and then as mentioned a final kick in the nuts from the ins companies. So the punishment trundles on for ever
I don't think you should be able to play the "I need my license for work and family" card if you are already sitting on 9pts. Those 9pts are your fair warning to behave yourself and be very careful with your behaviour on our roads. If I were the magistrate you'd have had a ban.
