Hi, I was on a previous thread about leathers I think Lozzy started it, Nige said you had the back of your leathers lowered, I have always had problems with my helmet being pushed down by my leathers or neck warmer ( no smutty comments ) So I have removed the padding/armour on the back of the neck of my leathers and believe it or not I do not get the same carpal tunnel wrist / thumb issues, and I can see into the distance. I was thinking of changing my helmet as I always thought it was limiting my view. Now I do not have something trying to push my helmet so I can only see 20 yards ahead. I do not even know why you had yours adjusted. so, Nige next how do I stop people pulling the wool over my eyes
I had the collar of my jacket lowered because it was pushing the bottom edge of my helmet up and forward, with the consequence that it reduced my vision enough to be dangerous. The moral to my story though is to not buy Pakistani jackets online. My re-entry into bikes has taught me a few home truths (at last). Only buy leathers that can be tried on - as most agree, and only buy Chinese fairings for looks and not performance/function. Can't help with the 'wool over your eyes' for the simple reason there are some on this forum more interested in humour and sarcasm than of offering facts and help.
If you didn’t have a bit of humour nigel this world and forum would be a boring old place. Just my opinion

my leathers are alpinestars, they have a bit that goes up the back of the neck with foam lumps to protect the neck, in reality it goes into one lump causing havoc with the helmet, I had not even thought of looking at the leathers, but out yesterday it was shear bliss not having to keep pushing the helmet back
I had/ have the same problem with my helmet (different cause) and found my side vision was hamperered on high lean angles. I ended up placing some foan inside the helemt to mak it sit higher on my forehead
My bespoke leathers had zero issues and my Dainese jacket has a neoprene collar (the leather only goes up half an inch from the neck, then the neoprene takes over) which makes it amazingly comfortable and seamlessly integrates with the helmet. However, my Pakistani Repsol jacket is barely usable for me if I am riding aggressively. Same issue you all have described, it pushes my helmet forward and limits vision. On the first point, you cannot really avoid buying leathers made in Pakistan as 99% of branded leathers are made in a place called Sialkot. This includes Dainese, Alpinestars, Frank Thomas, Furygan and most of the top brands. I was there a few years ago when I was an importer and I was able to buy a Frank Thomas jacket off the same production line for £12 but without the branding. The same branded jacket sold here in the UK for £250+ and it was identical in every way. The same applies to a certain flip up branded helmet. 50p a shell made in China equates to £400+ retail for the finished item. Anyway, back to the leathers, the only way to avoid buying a Pakistan made product (although this is to a degree shifting to the far east as production costs have dropped substantially) is to go down the tailor made route as many M2M are manufactured in the home country depending on the brand. On the second point however in respect of not buying online, I agree with you 100%. Protective clothing should be banned from being sold online. Like you rightly say, you need to be able to try the product on, and that is not just leathers, but any safety product, and the retailers need to be licenced and pass a test of competence as even buying in person, many retailers have no idea of how PPE works in a crash or what it is supposed to do.
Also why I am a big fan of bespoke leathers. The shop I use makes them in-house (small garage type storefront full of sewing machines and leather stock).
This philosophy is great we all get custom made leathers etc, Who's paying. my bike, leathers, helmet. are all used, I probably should not be so tight but it is breed into us in Yorkshire
My Dainese suit has made in Italy in it so do the boots and gloves .....maybe the cheaper lines are made a Pakistan then the lines for the wealthy in Italy.....l
It has that because it is finished in Italy, but the actual suits are still cut and assembled in Pakistan. But being finished in Italy allows them to badge it as "Made in Italy"
No the D air suits are cut and made the whole process in Italy.....same as the gloves ....etc,,,.when after they need a service they go back to Italy for a £300 charge every 5 yrs..,as I said maybe the cheap suits made in India or what you saw where fakes being rolled out...

No, I can assure you that they are not fakes. I have been to the factories in Pakistan on several occasions (they do not use Indian factories) with people from the manufacturers (various brands which includes Dainese) as well as the Harro range which is the German brand I was the UK importer for. Maybe you know something different? I an only speak from the factories I have acted as a consultant for, the factories I have visited and the products I have brought back from these factories directly off the production line..... Some are now starting to use manufacturers in Taiwan, and Australia is starting to come back into vogue as well.
