I’m in Cambridgeshire. Looking to buy outright. Have around £5k at the minute but some more money to come (be quicker if more people wanted a chain guard lol)

That's the 929. I believe it's better than the 954.

 

Is this perceived or real impression that build quality reduced related to the search for weight-reduction, as opposed to lowering production standards?

 

Shows how our opinions will vary. I have both, as you prob know, and both in excellent condition. My evaluation is that the 929 rides and handles better, but I might be fortunate that its suspension settings play right into my hands.

 

Was trying to find a review of the 06 model from the same guy. He has a voice I would trust))

 

If I wanted a bike for all year round riding i’d get another 929 or 954 if I could find a good one for sensible money. I saw some crazy cheap 929s when looking with full history and low owners, one even 1 owner from new. They are an absolute bargain for something so bullet proof. I’m tempted to look again just to have a cheap blade in the garage I can ride without caring if it’s going to rain...
