Well..... I've about a week or so until the blade goes (unless someone can change my mind). It's going in part ex along with my car for a new civic. I'll be honest I'm still in two minds and know I'll be gutted once I hand it over and walk away
Don’t do it - you’ve only just got it back on the road . Find the cash from elsewhere and keep the blade
Ever since last year when my 'mate' crashed it and took his time coming up with helping to repair it, I've just lost the love for it. It doesn't feel like the same bike, plus it's got quite a few issues if I'm honest that I think in the long term might be an issue. I've two years to buy another bike before I loose my no claims. Next time round I'll save up and buy a bike outright rather than finance one like I did the blade, think that was my downfall to. Was playing on my mind paying £150 a month on something I'm using to ride to work and back on the odd dry day we get. Expensive ornament.
Sounds to me like the right choice is being made. If you get the urge, pop over tho the West Midlands and visit @nigelrb , he would most definitely lend you one of his from the sitting room.
Sounds like there’s more to this than just needing to finance the car - if you’ve lost the connection with the bike then it’s time to move. I had the same with my Repsol, loved the bike from first getting on it, but after the issue with the ABS I just wasn’t prepared to risk it.
Not being funny mate but there are cars and bikes out there for peanuts. I've just sold a 600 bandit for £1000 and bought a high mileage but well maintained BMW 525D M-Sport for £1600! Keeping your NCD going can be done for little money and you'd still get to ride when the need takes you. For the price of the Blade you could get 2 reasonable motors.
I've been going through a similar thought process and have to say I got the opposite advice when I posted I'm driving a battered old focus. 100+k on the clocks, countless tips to the tip loaded with rubble and all sorts of crap so its messy to the point you cant hoover it properly clean, neighbour smashed into the front of it and has knacked the light and bumper, someone else has driven down one side of it it a car park, it's getting rusty to the point I dont think it will get another MOT without spending more than it's worth. Meanwhile the blade is all paid for and sits in the garage dripping in goodies and never moves I know its mad and anyone with any sense would move it on and get a decent car but something always stops me and makes me consider my options. I dont think you can do wrong either way, you might regret it but you can always replace it if needs be.
I'll be honest, even though I have the MT10 here, when I got the Bandit through it's first MOT in 8 years (bought it as a non runner) I started to ride it and in isolation to the MT10 it was superb and I loved it. It obviously doesn't compare back to back but on it's own it was a real hoot to ride providing you aren't out with hooligans trying to keep up. The guy who bought it sold his GSXR750 over a year ago as he felt he was gonna end up a statistic riding a sports bike with the lunatics he rode with. Now he uses the Bandit for commuting as his T5 was costing him a fortune taking it to work every day, and for taking his missus out on the weekends and he loves it, and all for a grand!
You must be driving this if you want to swap for mine If you can find mine you can take it as I never lock it and have even left the key in the ignition some nights
There is a similarity, as I now look out of my window, my car unlocked on the road, It sometimes has the keys left in
I got rid of a bike in my late 20's thinking I'll get another one in a couple of years blah blah blah....... 11 years passed, 3 kids arrived, one divorce happened, followed by a string of unsuccessful relationships...... And then I got a new bike You're are on the slippery slope @CalRR and unfortunately it doesn't get any better! Until you get another bike that is Think on lad
