I’m not sure whether this is an appropriate thing to post here but on my way home last night I spotted a bloke with an SLR digital camera filming me as I went past on the A2 near Welling / Bexleyheath around 5.45pm. Don’t know if he is some kind of enthusiast or traffic vigilante. This part of the A2 has an average speed camera covering it but not all exits have cameras.. Anyone else travel on the A2 from London back to Kent last night? Just a bit concerned that my lovely blade might get its number plate cloned or something..
Probably an "enthusiast" so wouldn't worry about it. If it is a busy body I would guess any report would be treated the same as the annoying "community spped watch" gestapo squads they have around here, and you'll get a letter.
Thanks (is that a "Dear John" letter?) I hope you're not suggesting that I might have in any way infringed upon the rules of the highway..
We were up Olivers mount a few years ago and had a "spirited" few laps when we noticed someone taking pictures and wondered if we might get a "letter", but nothing followed
The A2 is a 2x 3 lane dual carriageway at this point, doing a u-turn would have created a whole host of other issues
I like the presumption that I was in anyway breaking the rules of the road, although clearly being on my way home from work after a long day, I was keen to make good progress..
He was at some railings at street level at the side of the A2. I saw his camera follow me as I went passed. Just made me a bit paranoid about having by number plate cloned which happened to a mate on my street who had a GSX-R 600 with a private plate. He started having fortnightly visits from the police which was upsetting for his family and embarrassing / annoying for him.
OK. I know roughly where you mean. I'm often up and down that way so as Shaw Taylor on Police 5 always said I'll keep 'em peeled.
Police 5 - yikes, that makes me feel old.. Here's my own reconstruction.. (fitting of the early 90's and without the camera - too much of a stretch for me) Hope Google don't mind me posting these pics! Thank you Google.
I go a cross the A2 on Riefield road on my way home...I'll stop this evening and have a look over that way and see if I see anything .
What's it got to do with anyone anyway....it's not illegal to take photos or film roads...if you turned around and came and asked me...I'd tell you to jog on and give you a chinese burn
I would then be sure to stay right close to you, because it isn't illegal to stand near someone in public either.
My money is that it was a vigilante gathering evidence for some local d generate action group. Speed, noise, who knows! Y locals near me we very busy recording bikes doing 100+ on the A4 Near Avebury lucky devils . Miserable souls.
Could have been a keen motorsport photographer who was testing a new lens he'd just bought trying to get the shutter speed right?
