How is this not bigger news?? https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/10/07/diplomat-wife-crash-harry-dunn-immunity/ The wife of a diplomat was driving on the right and killed a guy on a motorbike, instantly got diplomatic immunity granted and fled back to the US. Trump says: “I won’t say it ever happened to me, but it did. When you get used to driving on our system and then you’re all of a sudden on the other system where you’re driving ... You have to be careful,”
MCN carried a few paragraphs this week. Not bigger news because (in my opinion) it involved a motorcyclist. Had it been a young girl or newly arrived refugee you can bet your whatevers that it would have headlined the Daily Telegraph and BBC News. I can't believe that an extradition will ever be effected.
What is the process with this? Is the person arrested and released? Horrific for the family of the victim.
Playing devils advocate a little here but I actually think she wouldn't have been very harshly punished for the accident anyway if she'd held her hands up. We have probably all had moments like that when driving abroad. The real crime was running away like a little gutless bitch!! Diplomatic immunity shouldn't extend to dependants and it shouldn't apply for cases like this when its unrelated to diplomatic business. RIP.
On another forum I am a member of, one of the members has started a petition, and good on him too! https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/threads/anne-sacoolas.254691/#post-2808588 and the link to sign.... https://petition.parliament.uk/petition ... wk680qjbgx
Unfortunately its anyone on the list plus their families, they don't even have to be a diplomat to be on the list.
