Absolutely no rush on that. If I'm not getting my bikes wet, I'm certainly not going to get my super decal-laden new helmet wet!!
A bit miffed about that Shark lid. I wanted it to ride around here in the darker winter months, as it is a bit brighter colour than my dark camo coloured RPHA 11. That was the point of buying it. Now I find the wind noise is excessive and I cannot really use it for riding round here in the winter, like I wanted, without wearing ear plugs. So back to square 1. I still need a lighter coloured lid to wear around here in the dark winter months - so have chosen that HJC as a reasonable compromise - likely more visible than my dark camo coloured version but without going the full Hi-Viz. So another £360 to stay safe (hopefully). Current lid a bit dark for dark winter months - maybe !
I put the Shark lid on and went for a test ride, and noticed the wind noise, and came home. Put the HJC on and went round again - (tests conducted without ear-plugs) It was obvious that the Shark had more wind noise but less exhaust and engine type noise. The RPHA 11, seemed to be the opposite, although not a noisy helmet. Again, must emphasize that this was conducted without ear plugs. I will use the Shark for trips away - trips to the races, and wear it with ear plugs, and it will be fine. But for local riding I will use my HJC RPHA 11 lids.
Nope I used my Shark on the blade, it's the wrong colour to wear on the MT10 Look at the picture post #13
I always wear ear plugs so shark for me fine I do like to feel hear what's going on so don't mind abit of sound wouldn't like a lid that dulls everything out hate that feeling of being boxed in...
My fault really, not doing enough research. I think the noise is what can be expected with a lightweight "race" track biased helmet in this class of lid - clue in the name I suppose RACE - R - PRO Now just seem to have an extra helmet that I was not really planning on, but hey who cares
I have been doing some more internet research - as it has been raining all weekend without stop. The new HJC is on its way in the post, and I might still send it back. It seems the Shark Race R Pro Carbon is quieter than the standard Shark Race R Pro - according to Shark the Carbon version is 4.5 db quieter than the regular model - (billyscrashhelmets.co.uk) The Race R Pro Carbon GP was road tested by Champion Helmets - they stuck a decibel meter in it and went for a ride - they recorded 103 db at average 80 mph. I noticed a quiet Schuberth touring helmet came in at 99 db using the same test - to give an idea of how the Shark Race helmet compares. So on that basis I reckon the standard Race R Pro is the 4.5 db + 103db = 107.5 db and likely why I find it a bit noisy compared to the HJC. So, stick or twist - keep the HJC when it arrives or pay a few more quid and get the supposedly quieter nicer sexier better Shark Carbon version ....I can see where this is going.......
Using their same standard test the Arai RX7 came in at : 104 db (not particularly great says the chap ) I really like these tests, they test inside temperature as well. First part of the test is studio, then they move on to the road test section. It seems they have done quite a few of these road tests, but not all helmets. Really good idea.
RPHA 11 order stopped. sportsbikeshop have managed to turn the order around at the last minute without me receiving it and having to send it back again. So it has been for a nice little trip all on its own Very nice people at sportsbikeshop - very understanding ....... But there is a plus side to this story ...... ......this ! Shark Race R Pro Carbon

I'm a fan of HJC lids but I'm fed up with the clip on the visor breaking off. I've gone through 4 visors and there are cracks on 2 more. So, I've been looking for an alternative for daily use and have been taken with the idea of an integral sun visor to cope with the early morning sun and dark evenings. With the the help of the discount code that @nigelrb posted I got this for £225. It arrives today. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/420222
