Abba for me too, never tried any other stand they are solid and secure enough to inspire confidence in soon what they are designed to do.
Some great opinions there, thanks all. I have front and rear paddock stands but always find the rear doesn’t quite open up far enough for the bobbins and they don’t fill me with loads on confidence - always seems to be a high stress moment lifting the bike on and off on my own. I highly doubt I’ll do lots of real mechanical repairs to the bike (hopefully only due to the reliability of Honda and not my incompetencies) so as much as I’d love a skylift I don’t think it will help. After YouTubing I think the ABBA with front lift is the best/easiest method of getting the wheels up, the warrior seems just as stressful as paddock stands
Warrior all the way for me. I've had the ABBA and it is solid, but just didn't work for me having 3 bikes in one garage.
Be aware if buying a used 1-Jac that if the mounting plate has (I think) 6 holes then you cannot buy new fitting kits for them as it’s the old design as the new one has 10 holes (May have been the other way round but it’ll be easy to find out) My BIL found out after speaking to the manufacturer.
Agree, and a good point for multi-bike owners with tight spaces. Conventional paddock stands, whilst excellent in the driveway/garage can be a chore to fit and manoeuvre in tight situations. In my frequent reshuffling I have to roll the bike's rear wheel onto a small dolly to swing around in tight areas. I did purchase a Rentec MotoGP style stand (pictured) but haven't used it because the rear protrudes too far out. I will be looking at Warrior and 1Jac at the NEC. Cheers for the mounting plate tip @exuptoy - just in case they're shifting old stock.
Nige this goes back to when the original designer was part of the team, all stands sold by them now will be fine, it’s the very early ones that are the issue. They do not sell them anymore. They were then badged Envy and the designer was Nigel Vause.
Here you go Nige, a potted history from the man himself. Towards the bottom of the page. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/diaval-bike-stands.31041/
There is a similar thread here from some years ago, all started off when someone from 1-Jac pretended to be a happy customer, I guess the negative posts were showing up on google. I can't find the fake user thread but the review done by Martin can be found here - https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/1jac-v-constands-review.18673/ It's from back in 2014 but I'm sure @sps170373 (who ever he is ) will remember it. For those who don't remember Martin and think it was a competitor or some random short term forum user then have a look at the Forum Members for the name @martinowen, you don't have to scroll too far down to find him
Thanks to @exuptoy (another forum you're on?) and @Barstewardsquad for the above. I have just spent 30 minutes of riveting reading!! After all that I'm thinking I'll just leave my bikes on their side stand.
No Nige, I’ve never owned a Duke I just remember reading a similar thread when looking into stands before getting the Constands and my BIL has the envy and I’m sure he spoke to Nigel when looking for one.
Looking around Demon Tweekes are roughly the same price as eBay at £128. The Constands in comparison is £246 and the 1-Jac £310.
i have just received an email off demon tweeks and thought it was really cheap but are you saying that’s the normal price? Thanks
I remember the thread well because they were rude to trusted forum members and administrators, they had taken martins money and never sent him anything! I’ll find the thread
https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/1jac-bike-lifter-manchester-bike-show.15460/ This is the thread where they were giving fake reviews and abusing members
That is truly enthralling and in many ways concerning. Most of the affected members are long gone. I had purchased parts from @Repsol Rob but he's no longer here too. Anyone know if the 'replacement/refund' offer was ever fulfilled? Getting back on track, we'd all value the word of @exuptoy (having had a variety of bikes and stands) and that would influence me to consider the Constands. I have one of their front yoke lifts and am happy. Again, NEC will reveal all.
