Does anyone use one of these? Do you need to put something on the seat cowl to prevent scratching? Perhaps a piece of foam. Is 30ltrs enough for a week away? Cheers, Rob.
I usually double it up with a us20 for about 8 days away at the TT but that includes putting my tent in the us30,i also put that anti slip dashboard roll mat stuff over the seat and rear bodywork and secure it with a piece of elastic to stop scratches its about 9 quid a roll from The Range and its more than enough for the job
Yea if you are laying it straight onto a cowl then it will mark the plastic. If you are putting it onto the seat then you can sort the straps well enough that nothing will touch any plastics. But as said above, a piece of mat will give you belt and braces. You'll be packing light for 8 days at 30 litres. I do 3 nights in Scotland with a US20 and US10 and they are stuffed full. Great kit though, you won't regret buying it.
I've done 10 days with a US20 & two US10's all cloths, wet weather gear, paperwork, chain oil visor clean even some cleaning gear and not forgetting a bag for of spanners for the ducati. Kriega do a proper strap kit for a 1299 which bolts on under the seat so nothing touch's the bodywork, I also made a spare 4 spare straps just in case,10mm longer from a ratchet strap, doubled the strap over Mrs got the sewing machine out treble stitched, couple of eyelet rivets to fix bolt through looked better than the kriega kit. Also had ventureshield fitted as well as motografix decal kit so nothing could damage original paint. I found with the nonslip stuff on a previous bike left a pattern of the material which needed polishing out. Edited to say Kriega only do a universal kit which fits a fireblade, reckon I could make strap kit to fit so its bolted under the seat somewhere !
I use US 20 with US10 mounted on top travel light and it's enough for 6 days (assuming that you wont be taking the dinner suit) always take old socks and underwear (yes I have deposited pants all over Europe) and bin them at the overnight stay, Normally put a strip of duct tape on back of seat seat cowl for paint protection.
I use a US30 and a US10 on the top to hold waterproofs. Plenty of space for a 2 week trip. I cover parts of the rear cowl likely to get scatched with insulating tape.
