I reckon Honda are still adding up exactly how much this new Fireblade cost them to design and build. Then they've got to calculate how much the 17-19 blade has cost them in un-sold and discounted bikes and add that on too. I reckon you're having one regardless of the price Nigel.
I’ve heard that the prices and finance packages WILL be on display and released at the NEC so surely by at least tomorrow afternoon the word will be out. Nigel needs a FB account, that’s where all the gossip is, and those of us with one will know, everything on FB is true. I’ll be hedging my bets on a £23k price tag on the SP and £18-9k on the standard bike.
whilst I do agree, Nigel has been eyeing up the R1M with some vigour lately... Nigel has my respect, Hope I’m still on a sportsbike (or 8) when I’m retired!
I have to say I doubt you’re wrong. If I was in a position to buy a new bike I wouldn’t pay £20k for a standard fireblade, not with the competition out there. Long gone are the days where you could get a brand new flagship sports bike for sub £10k
You would have to be mental to pay 19k for a standard model.......even 23k is pushing it for a sp that has the same wheels same can......same paint job...just been to look at the sp in the garage looks like anther summer on it for now Warrenty runs out end of June then start having a look by that tine will have ridden all the lastest .....20k would get you a BMW m sport ...3yt warrenty which you would need..,
Just seen these prices as advertised by Colwyn Bay Honda, and guess I'm not surprised because they are in the ball park a few of us were forecasting. However, when it comes to 'reality' the truth hits home - as some of you have said above. £20K for a standard bike is a lot of money compared to the competition and comparative value. The SP at £3.5K extra, for ONLY Ohlins, Bremos and QS is over the top. They would charge extra for a seat cowl cos it's listed as an accessory. We can forget dealer incentives, cos with a new model there won't be any. Further, I paid £23,549 for the 2018 SP2 which did have the same upgrades, PLUS wheels, different paint, totally different motor AND it was a limited model. My point here endorses what others say, this new SP - despite it being a 'prospectively' good bike - is massively overpriced. Yes, you're right, Charlie. But I will be doing some serious bartering in the form of my RR4 as P/X and a host of other inclusions. This is not now a case of walking into a dealer and putting money down; it's a case of best offer wins, and if that is miles away (Hunts?) so be it!
V4s with wings out Jan.....25.7k I agree each ride would be a event I have asked to be informed when one to ride however warrenty key again...
Those prices are way more than the higher spec BMW?! And M Sport includes Carbon Wheels, Heated Grips, Cruise Control etc.
Fully agree. Was having a conversation at work today about whether 200bhp+ makes sense for Joe Average who rides on the road. The v2 with 150ish bhp, Ducati looks and Panigale specs seems to make a lot more sense.
I was a real rap for the BMW earlier in the year, but got turned off by reports of tacky plastics and potential probs with carbon wheels - not that I'd be taking crap roads, but we never know if we might strike an unseen pothole or be pushed into the kerb. Honda is way over the top, and I cannot see too many dropping 23 and a half for the SP - no matter how good it looks. My enthusiasm has definitely waned.
R1 £16,799 vs Blade £19,999 = £3,200 difference R1m £21,999 vs SP £23 499 = £1,500 difference Was spot on with the R1m to SP price difference, but miles out with the standard bikes. I think Honda will likely be offering a 0% PCP deal for the standard bike by June, with dealer contributions starting to be seen in April or May, unless that is Honda try the trick of restricting supply, but then why would people wait when the competition is so great in the sports bike market.
If true it will make my 2018 SP seem like a bargain i wil continue to find 101 reasons why i was not ripped off when i bought it.....
the funny thing is, if we are all fireblade enthusiasts and we think this, what hope have they got persuading people to move from other marques??
Reckon anyone who paid £10,300 for a brand new non-ABS 2016 Fireblade has the best bragging rights . Jesus that feels like a bargain right now.
Hi from Oz, I must agree my initial excitement for 2020 has waned since details on pricing have surfaced. Down here the SP will be around $50k AUD otr compelling me to keep my SC77 SP2. If we were talking a new generation RVF it would be different but I remember when the gen 1 Blades landed here $13,900.00 out the door! Can any NEC live patrons check the finer details on the new flagship as in: Are the lines braided Is the clutch lever span adjustable What version Brembo MC is this rolling Are the rims forged or cast Any Carbon fibre finishes? Does the pillion cowl come Standard? Will Honda provide a dedicated grid girl at all prescribed track days Surprised the SP has pillion accomodation as anyone bleeding those sort of GBP will no doubt be able to afford a 2nd commuter for 2 up duties. That peg hangar standard looks like a festering dooble danger... Cheers from Perth AU
