So Iv purchased a 2014 engine to replace mine. it’s got Polished and ported head Upgraded valves and springs Suter slipper clutch and has been fully rebuilt. Apparently I would Benefit from a larger rad but would it fit? don’t really want track fairings as I still want to use the bike on the road. anyone have any ideas what I can do?
If you've not had any block/piston work .I dont really see why you would need a larger rad? Does your bike over heat,?
im still running the 08 engine. The new engine runs more power than my stock one. but to tell you the truth this is all new to me.
Unless you're running much higher compression with increased fuel flow, you're hardly going to have any temperature variation at all. To the contrary in fact, because a P & P head will flow exhaust gases quicker resulting in less residual heat. Unless you're doing track in Qatar or Abu Dhabi you won't need a bigger rad. Perhaps the best mod might be if you're having the bike dyno'd, get them to tweak the ECU so the fan comes on earlier. Not exactly sure if this can be done with stock ECU though. With Woolich you can.
fair comments, I’ll certainly give it a go and if I have heat problems I’ll look at the larger rad. yes you are correct you can certainly programme the ecu for the fans to come on at a lower temp. the only other thing I’m worried about is the ecu and exhaust. I currently have a full yoshi system and I’m told it will work with the 14 engine and apparently the ecu after a map. I hope I don’t get any surprises lol thank you for the reply
I think that would help a 'worked' engine much better than a standard one. You're on a winner with that.
It doesn't. Just when you think the bike is spot on, some member puts up a post of irresistible goodies or bling, and the whole process starts again. I've been 'sucked in' to buying a bespoke Red Bull helmet, a mint RST leather jacket, a carbon rear hugger, a promo crystal Honda Dream, and even an aprilia RSV1000RF. People just don't stop taking advantage of me.
Sounds like you have plenty of toys! To be fair there’s not much left to do on my bike after this. I think I have nearly every mod going. Cost a fortune and I don’t get to ride nearly enough. But I do have a nice little trip planned in June
