exactly! who wants to sit all the way through a 2 hour ride again looking for the good bits. the remote on the drift means you can switch off and on whilst still riding along so you dont have to sit through 5 minutes of dual carriageway recording, or being stuck in traffic . can you honestly say that you can turn a gopro off without removing your gloves or helmet. also the red light that lets you know if the gopro is on . is at the front of the camera ,so if the camera is mounted in front of you you cannot see if it is on without crawling over the bike to check. there is some footage from my drift on youtube under my username r3monkey if anyone wants to see the quality.i
Also i think we may be using our cameras for different reasons, i use mine as a matter of course on nearly all rides. So if i get creamed by a knobber in a volvo i have evidence, i then edit my macho wheelies and knee scraping heroics for my own use i have no reason to turn it on and off, and i can manage te button with my gloves on, if i have to
You can also get a viewing screen for the gopro to see what your recording...If that helps? I do find the buttons (one button seems to do everything) frustrating on my mates, but the new one sorts this out.... Im pretty new to The whole camera thing (scared of recording evidence) so wasnt aware of the drift, I'll check it out!
I use a GoPro, I have just bought the GoPro hero 2 as the quality of film is even better. Check out one of my videos that I took with the GoPro 1. Basicly I use a chest mount, you can buy that from the gopro website and I also use a suction cup and I fit that to the top of my seat cowl or side fairing, in fact anywhere with a nice flat surface. For the suction mount you need to by the Motorsport GoPro package. Skip to 3:20 to see onboard blade footage.
yeah thats what I paid, also on the new one there are red lights to tell you it is recording on each side of the unit, the display is much better now and it has an hdmi output to connect straight to your tv
I am searching for the right Cam since a couple of days or weeks... The GoPro is a very good cam but I don’t like the bulky design. At the moment my favorite Cam is the “Replay XD 1080", but I like the GPS feature ,like the Contour Plus got. I watched a lot of YouTube stuff and it’s really difficult to choose a cam. A major difference is when you drive in the dark. Then you can see, what you cannot see with some cams. So I am still unsure what to buy….. Welcome to the world of bike cam confusion mate. Let's try and narrow your choice down a bit. First off, what's your budget?Will you use the cam for touring or just normal ride outs? Is sound quality very important to you? Do you want something that is just basically click and go or are you happy to spend a bit of time setting it up to get the best result possible? Do you prefer bike-mounted or helmet-mounted? There are quite a few cams on the market and generally people are going to recommend the one they use for obvious reasons! That doesn't mean theirs is the best for you. Decide the answers to the questions I've asked you and then you can narrow it down to one or two. JD
Personally, I find 720p the best res in "the real world". Smaller file size etc and with compression its not that much different. So don't let 1080p distract you too much.
