    I'd love to know what sort of insurance quotes people will get for a £24K bike. My insurance for the 2017 blade threw up alarm bells all over the web comparison sites.. they didn't think a bike would cost more than £12K about 3 years ago. Oddly enough, when I was looking for quotes for the standard blade + QS vs the SP (with QS as standard) many insurance quotes were lower for the SP as others considered the QS a performance enhancement / modification and hence an increased premium! Totally nuts in my opinion - I even phoned and spoke to a couple of near-human insurance brokers to check what their websites were coming up with was correct..

    Mine is quite a bit higher than £589! Wish I was quoted that! The problem being is that I keep upgrading my bike once the insurance price drops quite significantly and then it shoots up again! :rolleyes:
    For example, had a 600RR which went down to about £500 or so, then when I got the S1000R, it went up to around £1100 due to the value and power of the bike. Now my S1000R insurance is about £5-600 after a couple of years (beMoto quoting WAY lower than everywhere else, highly recommend them for their service too) and now I'm looking at a £24K Fireblade with an estimated insurance cost of around £1-1200 on comparison websites.
    BeMoto quoted me for the nearest equivalent over the phone (2019 SP) which came up around £8-900 but they said I should call up closer to the time of renewal where they'll speak to their underwriters about my experience and will likely get a cheaper quote.

    Bear in mind I'm a few years under 30 ;), been riding almost 10 years with 8 years NCD. Was living in London, now Hatfield.


    All in all, was expecting to take a hit and this isn't out of reach, surprised it's not much higher as I've gotten used to paying just over £1k after getting a new bike

    Fickin ell Nigel, I'm only paying around £500 for both SP2 full NCD and ZZR 3 years NCD with 3 points, no alarms or trackers

    You guys must be living in the middle of nowhere for those prices! :( I keep mine off the road, tracked, alarmed and locked up...

    Well that’s a bargain.. my first year of my 2017 blade was close to £900 - guess that’s commuting into London and 7k miles per year..

    The main cost of all motor insurance is injury, The bike is a known cost, and generally the more you pay the less you want to stuff it. you also have theft to factor in, but same again most people that spend a lot on a bike spend a lot on security and if you have ridden a long time with no accidents the discount is good . So us old gits that have a good ncd can be a little smug when people talk about how much we pay
    That is why I had a years fully comp on a 700 mile fireblade for £110 and my son paid £350 fire and theft only to store his R6

    If it helps..probably not...I'm only two years older than you at 30 and my current insurance, fully comp is 246 for a 2016 Blade. No trackers or security declared, just a garage.

    Well I know it goes against the grain but I'm looking at getting the base model in black, after a test ride. Some may say I'm mad but I know what I like.

    The Ohlins and Brembo's I can do without as it will just be a road bike, may look at some K-Tech internals in the future but just a suspension set-up will prob suffice.

    No plans to sell will just add it to the collection but I agree yes the SP will be more sought after but resale isn't high on my list. It was the same when I was looking into the VTR, people said the SPY is the one you want, no, I don't, I want a black SP2 but thanks anyway.

    Re the QS, never had one so don't know what I'm missing and may be able to sort something out in the deal anyway.

    The K-tech wold be sometime off so you can never offset the cost of accessories anyway, the depreciation after having ridden it off the forecourt will prob cover that.
