When i pull away and lift my left leg onto the peg I get an almighty cramp in my hip area. I have to stop and get off the bike sometimes. Anyone any ideas how to stop this?
I sometimes get that but I just stretch my leg out straight and wiggle it about and it goes quick....or stand up in the pegs sometimes does it
I get it sometimes, not when I first start or am riding, but when I start riding again after a rest. I tend to stand on the pegs for a few seconds and that normally helps relieve it. If not I just take another short break and walk a bit.
Yes exactly the same. I mostly just try to grin and bare it and then it eases off. But totally agree it is extremely painful and not great for important concentration.
Perhaps it's because we're all getting old Maybe young @mk3golfcab can enlighten us if he gets it I've noticed too that recently it's getting harder to swing my leg off taller bikes at the dealers without becoming momentarily stuck or knocking something off an adjacent bike lol
No...... Us younger riders get it too @Lozzy! Before leaving home for a ride out, I always do a few different stretches trying to target all the leg muscles inclunding touching toes, squats, lunge type stretches. You get the idea, I find this helps massively and without doing so I cramp up quite quickly. Try it
Yeah I get it too. Especially if I’ve just moved my knee out to get it down I grin a bear it or wiggle my foot out to make it go away.
I can’t say I’ve had any, or can’t remember anyway? Alzheimers or better water maybe, but then it could be that every muscle is so tense hanging on for dear life
I've had it a few times. I actually had a major cramp up during a track day and had to pass on a session because of it. Usually, eat a banana and it helps it out. Stretch, wiggle, etc.
I've been going full factory and have one of my cycle energy Gels before I go out .....downside makes you Hyper when the caffine kicks in.......
I get it and its bloody awful. i started to do sone stretching exercises putting my left foot as far up my right thigh as i can reach also which may be more helpful i put my right foot down.. job sorted
Thought it was just me.......obviously not. Mine will be within the first mile and has had me pull over for a stretch. I have considered stretching before I got on in the first place but I think anyone seeing me would just think “nob”.
You'll look an even bigger NOB/Bell end pulled over on the side of the road stretching a mile from your house than you will doing it on your drive way at home!!! Just do it before you set off...... Doesn't matter what the neighbours think, you'll be having more fun on your bike in the next few hours than they will have in their whole lives! (unless they ride a motorcycle)
