    Isn't it faster than competitors?

BMW gen4 doesn't have wings for a change.

    Still doesn't justify the price.

Honda is just setting the price they feel they can command.

All the competitors use the same tech.

This is the real kicker - the new Honda is almost $10,000 more than the BMW out here.

So what you are saying is that you get exactly the same tech with a £15k BMW S1000RR as you do with the new Fireblade ?

You are saying the tech is exactly the same between the S1000RR and the Fireblade - no technological differences whatsoever ?

They all come with full titanium Akrapovic systems - designed by them - they all come with full Ohlins electronic suspension systems - designed in conjunction with Ohlins and they all have Brembo Stylema brakes

No technological differences whatsoever between them ?

Perhaps the £15k BMW also has exactly the same tech as the £35,000 Ducati V4 R - all exactly the same ?

........and another thing the BMW is so cheap you do not even get a tail light......it doesn't even have a tail light it is so cheap. How rubbish is that some wanky indicator arrangement instead.

    Yes.
Exactly the same tech, just massaged by different teams of engineers.

BMW had DLC on the cams since 2014.
    Ducati had 214hp since 2018.
Yamaha had Ohlins ECS since 2015.
Ducati and Aprilia have had winglets since 2018.
Ducati had Stylma calipers since 2017.

Those Stylma Brembo calipers? There are now the generic run of the mill consumer spec OEM Brembo caliper.

There is nothing unique about any of these bikes other than the packaging.

Well there is some stuff that is unique, but you wouldn't like to hear that it is beign run by the other guys.

BMW has been running internal Titanium engine fastners on the S1000RR since 2013 I believe.

Ducati, BMW and Aprilia have been running ABS with track mode since 2016 if I am not mistaken.

What you have done is to say that BMW has technology X, Ducati technology Y and Yamaha technology Z - therefore The Fireblade has no technological superiority.

What you have not demonstrated is that a single bike has the same complete package for the same price.

It is different to say Ducati has this BMW that - but that is not the same The Firebalde has them all - and the BMW does not.

    No.

What I have done is show you Honda is NOT breaking any new ground here.

They are LATE to this technology party - late by a number of years.

I am showing you that the other guys had all these things BEFORE Honda did.

All the other manufactures do currently have ALL the same tech - all of them. And they ALL had that tech BEFORE Honda did.

Honda is only NOW on the same page that everyone else has been on for at least 5 years.

You ever wonder why the "oooh look at me.. I am 2017 SP2 I have a Titanium tank!!!" technology is gone?

Its gone because it was pointless. If Honda really wanted to make a light race style tank, they would have dropped in a race ready 24l tank made of aluminium.

You ever wonder why the 190 rear tyre is gone? because it was a hindrance for track day and club racers, not an advantage - they only used the 190 tyre to keep the street weight down.

The technology needs to make sense. And if is going to be chucked in the bin when the bike gets raced then it was't actually race technology.

The only unique thing about the 2020 Fireblade is this stupid keyless ignition nonsense.

I guess lets run the numbers 18.8k for a model with race package.
    Add 800 for Akra end-can
    Add 2.5k for Ohlins front+rear
Add 1k for Brembo calipers, MC and discs.

That gets us to around 22-23k gbp. So I guess Honda SP is not too far off.

No, you will still have to add the price of Ohlins to the Honda.

Nobody is going to be ADDING electronic Ohlins to their race package bike. They take it way and buy manual Ohlins.

In the US, a maxed out full option 2020 S1000RR is about $23,000. That's $5,000 less than the new SP.

Interesting....I wonder if the criminals currently stealing keyless cars can use the same methods on these bikes then...

I was just comparing pricing. Do you know how much is electronic Ohlins? I assume they use similar cartridges/shock as FKR/TTX, just electronically adjustable, arent they?

Exactly. They just have a stepper motor on top to do the adjusting. Not sure of the cost.

So based on these figures, it'd be more cost effective for the Honda if one were to get the base model at £20k, add the quickshifter (£525) and then £1k on the Brembos. Instead of getting the SP?
Works out at £21.5k (if both BMW and Honda racers would change whatever suspension is on them anyway).
Unsure how much that would equate to in USD.

Isn't SP coming with Ohlins and Akra can and base not? Or am I missing something?

The engine management system will take care of any detonation via the knock sensor(s).

Diamond Like Carbon, is that the same as faux leather aka PVC? FFS who let the marketing department intern loose, in this this day and age wouldn't it be blingy-er to say "Graphene like Carbon", or "Carbon That Identifies As Diamond"
