Guys looking for advise. Thinking of crash bungs for my 16 plate abs blade. Now I don't like the idea of drilling the fairing but the cost of the non drill is a tad high, plus do they work as well? Another question on what's best to fit? Fairing bungs, engine, forks and swingarm? Where do you stop lol. Never considered this before as to be fair my last bike the bungs, sliders whatever you want to call em, would have cost as much as the bike damage would have cost to fix Thanks for any advise.
Road or track? Personally I'd always go without....it's a lottery IMO, and tbh, bin it on the road and crash bungs last ya worries. On track there's the whole flip, don't flip bebate
Road only. Just seen a lost of posts on a few groups of how lucky people have been that their bungs have saved their bike with smaller incidents.
I have covers for my engine casing and bullet frame sliders, they dont stick out vey far so should stop the flip, but sliders or not, if you hit the kerb or grass on track or road at the wrong angle it can still flip....I buy track day insurance just in case of a flip....sliders worked great for my little low side on road (slow speed though) damn deisel
From previous experience I've dropped my old bike on its side when pulling up outside my house and not kicking the stand out enough. My set of full R and G's saved me a fortune in replacement fairings. The only scuff was to the wing mirror. Well worth the money in my opinion. Come on I'm not the only one to do this
Personally i've never fitted crash bungs to any of my bikes. I just don't like the look of them sticking out the way the do. However I do have GB Racing engine protection all round. I guess they are great if you drop the bike or have a small tumble but on the track I have heard they do more damage to frame etc. Fingers crossed, but if I do have a crash i'd probably just buy some cheap Chinese fairing kit from extreme fairings or the likes to rebuild the bike.
Finger crossed indeed, I have cheap chinese fairing and GB Racing engine covers and GB Racing Bullet frame sliders, they are small and don't stick out like a coke can stuck to the side but will protect if you slide down the road. My OEM fairing stays safe at home for when I sell my bike, they seem to fetch far more in standard trim, then sell the other seperate...
Simon have you got any pics of your bullet sliders on your bike? I know this is an old post but not many have these on their bikes. Cheers
