    Are we worried?

I dont understand why movement of people isn't stopped sooner. It's always "there are no cases here however we have a plan if it arrives" to "there are a few isolated cases but it's not anything to worry about" then no doubt "shit it could be anywhere and everywhere".

Why cant we learn from Italy instead of taking the same measures and expecting different results.

Still flights left right and centre from all corners of the earth.

Now the 'delay' phase whatever that means. Without sounding like David Icke I feel like it's almost allowed to happen

About 2½ million die from pneumonia every year, then ½ million from flu, and even 60,000 from the common cold.

Around 3000 have died from coronavirus, with around 90,000 cases reported !!!!!

Just bear in mind 50 million died from Spanish flu in 1918/19 ..

Tin Foil Hat time again folks:

    • Not many cases in Africa are there ?
    • Population of Africa - including tightly packed poor cities - 1.26 billion people.
    • Why is it not spreading like wildfire through Africa ?

For some reason, who knows why, but certain ethnicities seem to be more susceptible to COVID-19 than others. It is absolutely astonishing that a global health pandemic should have almost left Africa complete untouched.

Africa has many densely populated cities across the whole continent - often with poor healthcare provision - and yet virtually untouched by this disease despite regular flights and travel in and out - an incredible and astonishing statistic.

    Why ?

The tin foil hat brigade are saying that it is a genetically engineered bio-weapon released in Wuhan, where China has its own bio-facilities, thereby providing a cover story.

Whatever the tin foil hat brigade say - the chances of this spreading from someone in China eating bat stew is absurd.

    So questions:
    • Is it a natural occurrence of nature ?
    • Or a bio-weapon released by accident ?
    • Or a bioi-weapon released on purpose ?

I am sure they know in China whether they leaked their own agent, or whether one was released against them.
If something was released against them, then something very nasty will likely get released against us.

Tin foil face mask anybody ?:D

I k ow the media loves to blow things up, especially with brexit and megxit now cooling down.

3k of 90k is still about 3% mortality rate and if half the uk population get it that's 1m deaths.

I realise this is all unrealistic but surely watching it take hold in other countries should be a warning and we should act in advance instead of waiting for the same scenario to play out.

    Interesting map.

It seems that the disease spread rapidly in China despite a huge medical effort on their part - it must be highly contagious.

But why did it not spread in Africa ?

There is very obviously an uneven response to the virus that is based on ethnicity - however politically incorrect that may be to say.

Personally I think it may be chance. Spanish Flu killed a lot of Pacific Islanders, and we have seen how western diseases have caused devastation when released into populations that had not been previously exposed, and as such had no immunity.

It is very clear, even to a layman observer, that this has caused a vastly different reaction to the populations of China and neighbouring countries than it has to the populations of Africa and South America - which can only be explained by way of ethnicity.

Lucky for some I guess, not so lucky for others.

Africa has less travel than say Europe and so it is less likely to get there. However if it does land there it is likely less people will be infected, but it may have a higher mortality rate depending on which part of the continent it is in.

All a massive over reaction in my opinion since the beginning of the year 600 people have died through normal influenza in the UK and up to now only 2 from supposed covid 19 if you do the maths that’s just under 10 a day dying from influenza no mass hysteria over that is there

It doesn't take much to to see that a large percentage of human beings are complete and utter f#ckwits and the disaster movies are probably bang on in their depiction of brainless hordes running amok before the giant meteor strikes

Great to see bikers are made of stronger stuff...the dealers cafe was rammed yesterday and handshakes/ hugs/kisses in abundance and not a handwash in sight :D

Looking good weather wise this weekend, certainly up here.......so...

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Wife has some medical conditions that would exacerbate the symptoms of Corona and so I keep an eye on what is happening, and as I work for a food company, no not McDs etc before you ask for fries :p, work has people planning on how to keep supplies going if there is an epidemic. Saying that I work in IT so if it does start to happen I'll just work from home for a few weeks.

Biggest pain is that I am due to buy my 6 monthly supply of antiseptic wipes for my sleep mask and the price has gone up from about £7 to over £30! Firkin profiteering tw4ts

I’m of the point that it’s not worth worrying about. If you worried everytime and changed your life plans you’d never get anything done. Also it worked out great for me to see the attractions in Rome without hoards of people this time :)

Oh my life Mattie. Come on mate, you're better than this.

Scientists around the globe are conducting genetic analysis of this disease and they're all saying the same thing, it is strongly indicating to have come originally from bats then passed to an intermediate animal and then finally onto humans. That is the exact same route that SARS and MERS originated from, they both started in bats, one was passed onto camels then humans and the other was passed to a breed of cat and then humans. The problem is China's storage of livestock at their food markets.

I'm not worried and I think it's well out of the bag already anyway.

What does annoy me that at the end of it all nothing will be said to China about their relationship with animals and the trade of animals. This should be the opportunity to say enough is enough, you can eat fish and chips like the rest of us.
