Anyone got any personal recommendations for a battery? Gel? Lithium? Currently on a standard battery maintained by an Optimate 4. Left the bike off charge over night after running it and not enough juice to fire her up so......lol
Thanks for the reply @Muffking Yuasa still a top runner for lead batteries or Motobatt catching up? Wouldn’t care I’ve a spanker in the garage, unopened etc but off my ZXR and doesn’t fit lmfao
Thank you gentlemen (i use the term loosely) haha I’ll look them both up got more chance of getting one of these delivered next day than a bag of flour from asda
I went for a lithium one from SBS - Shido I think. Lasts for about 5 weeks without use before the bike will need a bump start and some running. Don't have a tender on it (unlike the SP with a tracker) - it's all good!
Motobatt AGM battery, can sit all winter in my garage with no top up charge and start first click of the starter, awesome batteries, never had a problem
I had Exide in mine, lasted 5yrs with no problem, even over the winter period. Only needed to put in on charge the last few months as there wasn't enough juice in it to start up. I was looking at lithium as well, but that would have meant getting a new charger, so decided to stick with a normal one. It was a toss up between, Yuasa, Exide, Shido or Motobatt. I got warned off Motobatt as a load of people were having charge issues with them, Yuasa was stupidly expensive and Shido was mail order only. So I decided to stick with Exide and should last me another 5yrs.
+1 I have a Motobatt too, no problems so far, starts on the button every time, especially after being out on the drive during the whole of the Winter, without much use (3 months whilst recovering from a broken collarbone). It was put in new from July 2019 though, so hasn't been tested to time yet. Chin
Thinking I might go the Yuasa route. Yes I know it’s expensive (show me what isn’t) but you get what you pay for in personal experience. The Exide has 145 CCA and the Yuasa 190 CCA which is when the battery is under its most duress, ergo less strain longer life span? I can see the obvious cost benefits in buying Exide I believe it’s the YTZ10S version replacement at £40?
I looked into the lithium option but as you say @lardytkd it would’ve been a new charger as well as mine has the desulphate program on it. Got the new Yuasa today. Thanks for all your input and options/opinions guys What this forum is all about
That’ll teach me not to post before I open the box!! Geet big twat on the corner of it Must’ve been some hit to do that damage on the corner?! Are the internals in one piece? Structure compromised? Getting it replaced at no cost to me so I’m not complaining....well too much!
Yay new battery arrived i’ve opened the box 1st this time already on my baby and working a treat Thanks again guys
