Ignorant question re battery / starting

    As per my intro post, I purchased a 2019 RR - 12 months old but with only 100 miles travelled. Dealer was having issues with it holding a charge, presumably through lack of use, so kindly installed a new battery at time of sale (Yuasa YT27S).

    After a decent run, it will restart absolutely fine. However, after a short run, say to the garage, and then attempted restart is either really hesitant, as if it won't fire up, or just doesn't fire up at all. This is despite the dash showing a reported 14v+.
    My question is, are my expectations wrong? Is this normal? The feeling of will it/won't it start doesn't inspire much confidence.

    Any advice on what to expect, or how to improve this to give more confidence would be much appreciated.

    if it's a case of "they all do that sir" then so be it...

    That is a very small battery, are you sure it is the right one for your bike?

    Not right kick it back to the dealer - if its the new battery (or something else) it needs sorting as it should fire up. I assume you’ve got it on a trickle charger at home as you never mention it being a problem first thing

    Ah OK, that is better. Do you have a tracker fitted?

    No tracker fitted, as yet.

    An no, Boothman, not on trickle charge either. It does seem to start after being left a few days. it's the reluctance to start again after such a small run that seems to be the issue. That and the hesitancy - like a dead second or two - before reluctant firing.

    I've got a 69 reg SP2. I have no tracker or trickle charger and have never had a issue with it starting, started it for the first time Sunday since I fitted the tail tidy December last year, only got 42 miles on the clock.

    Has said above let the dealer sort it under warranty.

    Some people with 2017+ bikes have had trouble hot starting. The bike fires up OK when cold but struggles when hot. I have had the problem myself a few times. When I went out for a run a few weeks back, not having ridden it for about a month, it started just fine but after about 30 miles I stopped for fuel and it wouldn't start. I ended up taking the battery off and going home to charge it. The combination of 45 minutes charge and the bike cooling down was enough to get it going. I've since replaced the standard battery with a LiFePO4 battery, which seems fine.

    That's interesting, DGR, thank you. Yes, the hot starting is the issue; that defines it well. Noted on the LifePO4.

    Before I got my blade I had a zx6r Ninja, and that could be a nightmare to restart when it was hot. I heard through the grape vine there is a fuel line or something fuel related near the manifold and when it was hot it used to effect the fuel flow. (I heard it actually evaporated the fuel but I never understood how that was possible). Maybe something similar but I'd expect if it was, someone would have already said.

    Just had that with my 18 plate it was a knackered battery in the end, new fitted been ok since. Would stick the thread link in but don't know how o_O The new one they've fitted could have lost some charge if it's sat on the shelf? would definitely check it's had a direct replacement fitted they fitted an eBay special to mine at first and it failed after 2 months...

    I suspect the battery they fitted was down on capacity or faulty.
    I have had this kind of issue in the past and ended up changing the battery
